Has anyone voted early?

Has anyone decided to vote early? Were the lines long? Do you think long lines are a bad or good indicator for Bush?

25,000 have voted so far in Knoxville, TN. This is an 80% increase over 2000. Given that Knoxville is a Republican stronghold, this bodes very well for Bush. It means Republicans are fired up -- and I mean really fired up. Hopefully this will be a national trend. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is.

We voted about 1pm in Texas. There were only 3 people in line ahead of us, but there was a steady stream of people behind us as we voted and left. The election workers said that it had been busy without let-up since opening this morning.

I'm in Florida and it took me almost 2 hours to vote.So how long before See-BS calls Florida for Kerry?

> Can you explain what you mean by the popular tally?
The actual count of votes cast by voters nationwide.
Unlike other offices, the President (and VP) are not elected
by direct balloting. You are voting for a slate of electors,
who cast the actual votes in the Electoral College.
It is possible for a candidate to win the popular vote,
and lose the election, and vice versa. The Dems like to
claim that Bush lost the pop in 2000, but we don't really
know, because a lot of states where he won by a large
margin stopped counting, esp. the absentee ballots.

Got out and voted this morning. We did not have any long lines, etc. because we had Thunder Storms and bad weather all over which was a perfect time to go and get this done.
We had the new touch screen systems and they worked fine and are very easy to use.
I had to vote early as I will be a Republican Poll watcher here in Little Rock, Ar and will be on call all day long Nov. 2nd and I am looking forward to being in the Belly of the Beast on Election Day and seeing everything close up and personal.

In Alabama there is no early voting. Either go to the poll on election day or complete an absentee ballot.

Doesn't voting early fly in the face of any "electioneering" laws? I don't really understand it. The campaign is still going on, yet voting is allowed. Maybe I'm too old and set in the old ways of voting to get it.

I have a tiny dog and put my "I VOTED" sticker on the dog for fun . Gets some fun looks.
Of course if asked, I say the dog votes Bush, it has a brain.

We can vote early if we think we won't be able to get to the polls on voting day. Absentee ballot. They don't get counted until after the regular votes.

I never have any trouble on election day. I've never had to wait more than ten minutes to vote. I figure the less time my ballot is in someone else's possession, the less time to mess with it or lose it.

My wife and I just voted in Greenboro, NC. Stood in line for nearly an hour. The old lady in front of me (in a wheelchair) was wearing a Kerry sticker; the guy behind us had a Kerry sticker on his car.
So among us four, it appears to have been a dead heat.

Yes, I voted this afternoon in Texas...i was surprised to hear two older women saying that they wanted to vote early so they could vote again in November if they didn't do it right this time!!! They were serious... I casually indicated that there were no names or phone numbers on your ballot, so you would not be called if your ballot was not done right. so better try to do it right this time and if they need help to ask one of the volunteers.....

It makes it easier to dispose of your ballot. More time for them to "loose" it.
