Jim White, U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, needs our prayers. He has cancer and his prognosis is awful.
Jim is about sixty and he's one of the best people I've ever met. I never saw him that he wasn't smiling.
Jim is married and has four children, several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Several months ago he found out that he had cancer in his esophagus. His doctors told him that surgery would take care of it and that his chances of recovery following surgery would be excellent.
However, Jim's insurance company argued with his family and doctors over details for five weeks. At the end of those critical five weeks, it was discovered that the cancer had spread so severely that surgery was no longer a safe option.
Treatments since that time have not been able to defeat the widespread cancer. He is now extremely weak and due to the cancer in his brain he is now blind.
Jim White was a huge bear of a man and today he weighs less than a hundred pounds.
Praying for Jim's healing.
Dear Lord, bless him and his entire extended family. Give him the strength and the courage to face this. Grant him peace and welcome him Home when he finishes this journey.
We thank him for his service to our country, and we pray for his loved ones to be strengthned through this trying time.

Oh, no...
Where there is Life, there is Hope. I firmly believe that.
I will be praying for Jim tonight. I know that everyone who sees this thread will be doing the same.
Please thank him, for us, for his service and sacrifice.
"I'll tell his wife to log on to FR and read to him!"
Okay, well Jim (and thank you, Jim's wife)--this is a note to you, and I know we all feel this way:
First of all, thank you for fighting in the most thankless war we ever fought in. You never got a welcome home parade. What you got was a lot of ungrateful, angry protesters--the last thing you needed after going through the type of hell that the rest of us can only imagine.
There are a LOT of people who will vote against Kerry just because he caused pain, torture and yes, death, of American soldiers. Like someone said, this election will be (I hope and pray and I KNOW I'm not alone) your ticker-tape parade.
If I'm wrong, and the majority of the electorate proves itself incapable of discerning an honest man from a traitor, well, please know that there are STILL millions of people grateful for what you did, and even more importantly, our Creator knows how you sacrificed and gave so much in the cause of freedom.
I will pray for Jim.
