NEW YORK -- The gloom of seeing their ace bounced after just three innings, his shortest outing in three years, was worsened by the knowledge that the Curt Schilling who had carried them all season might not be seen again this October.

The conversation is morphing!!!! Its all a huge conspiracy by the MSM to brainwash us into being Yankees fans!!!
Let's put it this way. Until you have endured what Red Sox fans have endured for much longer than I have been around, then you might understand. Go to a game.. just one game.. at Fenway and you will see how much these fans are behind this team. It is called entertainment, however after watching and hoping for so long it becomes part of you.
The Red Sox are so engrained in so many different generations of familes here in New England that I think the world would stop if they win it.
Unhinged doesent begin to decscribe Red Sox fans.
I would take Clemens back in a heart beat. In fact, the Sox were vying for him at the trading deadline this year when it looked like Houston was out of it. We want the Sox to win, and we want them to win NOW.
Two words: Babe Ruth.
Sox= Unenfranchied Mass Voters, 2018 can't come soon enough.
Red-sucks? They're the best team in Baseball.
Take your NY cliches elsewhere.
examples, please.
It's more like 50-50 against the yanks, over the past year the sox have pretty much killed the yankees with comebacks.
July 24th
Sept 22nd(I think).
The sox will probably win tonight against that stiff lieber then its on to Fenway where the Yankees have been continually crushed this year.
I can safely say that the Red Sucks will NOT win the WS.
Oh, I'll just mention 1978 and the playoffs last year and leave it at that.
Remember "Liveshot" getting boo'd at the Sox game during the DNCC in Boston? He bounced the ceromonial pitch 10 feet in front of the plate while standing in front of the mound. RAG ARM! The pitch was supposed to be thrown by a veteran of the War in Iraq. Kerry pulled a "do you know who I am?" and then had the soldier dispatched to the nose bleed section of Fenway.
"Lovey! There's an enlisted man sitting next to Ben Affleck! Have him removed like the firehydrant!"
This has nothing to do with payroll and everything to do with the manager. The Red Sox manager must have been crazy to let Schilling start with a bad ankle. Then when he had no juice on the ball he should have yanked him.
Notice Joe T. yanked Moose when only 2 runs had scored. 8 - 2 and he yanks the pitcher that had been pitching no hit ball and was his ace. Now granted Yankees bull pen couldn't hold the sox very well until you know who came into the game. But the point is this is post season something Torre understands it's no longer about who got you here it's about winning the ball game period!
Might I suggest Valium? With a Sam Adams chaser?
It really does seem that the Bosox let the weight of history get into their heads, turning them into self-fulfilling prophesies. It also causes their fans (at least so it seems) to lose all perspective.
I can turn my New England brother in law into a quivering mass with 2 words...Billy Buckner, and he's lived in Baltimore since 1985.
Hmmmm, is there any Biblical prophesy that might connect the end times with a Bosox world championship?
LOL.
Shouldn't the "best team in baseball" be able to play at least .500 ball against the Orioles?
Wouldn't the "best team in baseball" win its division?
You might be able to trade your delusions of grandeur for a couple of NY cliches, though.
We were at Fenway in May and Kerry (and I think Teresa) was also there, brought to and from the game in his entourage of big, shiny black SUVs. When he was announced, most of the crowd booed, and there was a smattering of polite applause. Please don't associate Kerry with the Red Sox (his favorite player is "Manny Ortez", after all). Many Sox fans are conservatives...
Now there's a lack of loyalty...
But don't you understand? Even though Red Sox payroll is the second-highest in baseball, the Yankees are the ones wearing the top hats and carrying around sacks of money, while the scrappy Boston Dirt Dogs have to fit in baseball between sharecropping and coal-mining. It's very tragic. ;)
You forgot Toronto...World Series Champions in 1992 and 1993. That makes 12...now which is the last one who appeared at least twice since 1980? Oh yeah...San Diego.
Dream on!
Yanks in 4. Just 3 to go.
