Thieves swipe computers from Democrats' Toledo office

TOLEDO, Ohio - Thieves broke into the Lucas County's Democratic Party offices, taking three computers, including one belonging to a lawyer working for John Kerry's campaign, police said Tuesday.

A volunteer working for Kerry's campaign discovered the break-in Tuesday morning, said Jerry Chabler, finance chairman for the Lucas County Democratic Party.

A main computer containing the county party's financial records and other sensitive records was missing along with a computer used by campaign staff members for a county commissioner, Chabler said.

"I'm not pointing any fingers," he said. "I just hope and pray it's a third-rate burglary."

Republican and Democrat offices elsewhere in Ohio have been targets of thieves and vandals within recent months.

"We understand the passions on both sides," said Kerry campaign spokesman John Gans. "We know it's happening on both sides."

Someone smashed a window Sunday night at the Bush-Cheney offices in Canton and took off with a purse, laptop carrying case and a portable radio.

I think you are right. We are seeing the second coming of the "Republican" Party. Remember when President Reagan was elected and the media was beside themselves because they did not see it coming. Remember when after two years of Clinton, the democrats lost the majority of the congress and tied the senate. I honestly think the only reason Gore won what states he did was thru fraudulent voting.
