This is a major issue and at this point the only way to combat it is to call the campaign and volunteer to GOTV. If possible fly or drive to a battlground state to do this noble work.

I personally think these results are due to a combination of things. People have now had a chance to digest all of the things Kerry really said in the first debate, and don't like his "Global Test", and some of the other things he said.

Secondly, the Vice Presidential Debate was clearly a home run for Vice President Cheney. Sen. Edwards came across as an arrogant ambulance chaser with no applicable experience for the job of Vice President. This stark contrast is also sinking in.

Lastly, since 95% of the responses were taken prior to last night's Presidential debate, you can assume that only west coast liberals and a few from the central time zone had seen the debate. These were most likely skewed towards Kerry given that Oregon, Washington, and California are all leaning toward Kerry.

Given this, I believe the bounce will increase over the next few days and by Wednesday there should be a fairly strong lead being shown for President Bush in the Rassmussen poll. This will be just in time for the next debate to start making an impact.

One negative ramification, for the libs that is, of all of this 'spinning of polls to Kerry's favor' is that it is only motivating W voters to make it to the polls through hell or high water. On the other side the same intensity of purpose just does not seem to exist. IMO that's gonna be the delta here.

This horrible news. It means that Bush is winning over independents. If that's the case come election day Bush may have a majority but Kerry will capture the independent vote!

Its not really controversial IMO. I'm just saying that if you are raised a certain way, with certain beliefs, then it would be expected that if a vote is going to have your name on it, it would naturally reflect that.

I was remarking that Kerry was justifying his position of going against his beliefs by saying that he wouldn't expect people of other groups to have his same beliefs.

I also wouldn't expect people to have my same beliefs, but the key difference is that I wouldn't prostitute my belief for their vote, I would vote with my belief and hope they respected that I stand for what I believe.

Burr is actually leading in NC, hurray! Yep. I liked seeing this. My wife is going to vote on in NC on November 2, and I've already voted absentee in Az. Out here in Goldsboro, most lawns in the town have Bush-Cheney signs on them. I'd hate Erskine Bowles to win the seat.

I wouldn't prostitute my belief for their vote, I would vote with my belief and hope they respected that I stand for what I believe.

I admire politicians who know how to hit what I consider to be a moving target. On some things, I EXPECT our politicians to vote what is in our best interest, regardless of what is "popular" (such as going to war or not going to war). I EXPECT them to be more informed, or have all of the military intelligence to make an informed decision ON OUR BEHALF.

But on other things, I expect them to vote how "the people" tell them to vote (i.e., majority rules).

How's that for my own personal flip flop? And I can't even give you a good definition of what distinguishes an "in our best interest" issue from a "majority rules" issue.

Obviously some things are clear cut, like whether or not it's ok to murder people. But other things are in a gray area, like Assisted Suicide. The ONLY thing guaranteed in Life is Death, so why not be able to end your life painlessly if you're suffering from a painful terminal disease?

Sigh. Like I said, I admire those politicians who do their job well... and like you said, without compromising or prostituting their morals, character, integrity, etc.

More should be made of the fact that VP Cheney is far more qualified to be 1 heartbeat away from the presidency.

Likewise, Pres. Bush had, imo, a slight win yesterday evening. The polls are calling it a tie. I convinced it is a slight win for Bush, though, when folks reflect on what was said. (There were times when Kerry VISIBLY was shaking...and his voice quivering....he was either on his heels or upset.)

Just as a point of reference, here are my estimates for Rasmussen's 3 day polling sample....50.7/49.6/48.5 Bush, 45.1/46.6/46.0 Kerry. A good day for Kerry dropped off for today, and tomorrow a good day for Bush drops off. I'm not sure Bush's debate performance last night will impact the Rasmussen polling data much. There was very little impact on the President's numbers from the first debate. Kerry gained support. But Kerry seems to top out at about 46%, while Bush averages about 48%. I would expect tomorrow to be 49/46 B/K.

Incidently, a very good polling day for Kerry falls off the ABC/WP poll today. It will be interesting to see what those numbers look like.

I think Kerry thinks he is OK because of massive voter fraud. This needs to be address on a massive scale. A large part of our battle lies here.
