A colorful mosaic gracing the entrance of Livermore's new library has 11 of the 175 names and words on the piece misspelled -- from "Eistein" and "Shakespere" to "Van Gough" and "Michaelangelo."
The $40,000 project now will cost the city a few thousand more because it must pay the artist to fly from her Miami home and correct the mistakes. was unapologetic about the blunders when she told the Associated Press that others present when the mosaic was installed should have caught them.
Besides, she said, it's art.

When you are the anvil, bear the blow!
And smile doing it. ;^)
I think it would be more cost effective to just put in cement over the travesty or pay a local artist for a new design--making sure that because they have paid, the chick won't be able to recycle her work on someone else. I am willing to wager that this "artist" will try to slip an error through when she comes for corrections.
I guess we can all agree that the artist is no "Eistein."
NO NO NO! my response is to John Kerry's cancelation of out Nuclear Bunker Busters and other weapons! In your statement it does not talk about possessing something...
I admit, I was and am horrible with the English language! and I took 4 years of summer school to prove it!
I are no Shakespere. :o) But I do take the time (usually) to check my posts for spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Still, I've made plenty of mistakes.
Ok then...fix it the other way...
"If you don't have the hammer, you are going to be the anvil, and I would rather have the hammer!"
....and I am just provoking you because you didn't care about spelling.....
Can we as a society get any lower? It's absurd that there would even be a debate over this, and that the SF Comical would compose a report to carefully present "both sides of the issue", as they cliche states. The alleged "artist" is a contemptible ignoramus, end of discussion.
"The people that are into humanities, and are into (William) Blake's concept of enlightenment,
I guess it would be useless to point out to Maria that the correct wording should be "The people who".
No, of course spelling doesnt count. It just makes people who don't know how smart you are think that you are dumb.
Now, this lady "artist"? Her work of art is ugly, and she can't spell worth beans. I bet she is a liberal, to top it all off.
The Capt.
well, if you are correct I will fix it, i actually was already corrected once on it and changed it from "your" to "you are"... I really don't know... When it comes to English i think the President and I have a lot in common!
Six weeks ago, she couldn't spell artist. Now, she are one!
I don't really care.....I was jes messin' wit cha!
Yep, she's probably a mega liberal
Ok , I fixed it :^D is it better? hehe come on G-DUBBYA KICK THAT MOTHAS @SS TONIGHT!
"doesn't"
:-)
What they need to do is hire another artist to carefully draw a single line through the mis-spelled words and write the correct spelling on top using all the accepted editing marks. Then add a comment at the bottom about the values of reading and going to libraries. It's a natural.
Oh, but there is a law against altering any artist work.
I am an artist and a book lover this story annoys me!
Unless the art in question has a Christian theme -- then it is perfectly acceptable to remove, destroy, or alter it at will.
