O"Reilly Wants President Bush to Apologize Friday Night
Me

Posted on 10/07/2004 10:41:05 AM PDT by JonDavid

Bill O'Reilly suggested today on his radio show that President Bush should apologize at the Presidential debate Friday for no Iraq WMD. If the President Bush did this in the way that O'Reilly wants him to, the President would be making a major gaffe. I could see the sound bites. President Bush has NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR. Also, O'Reilly says that Bush has to clearly win Friday or it’s over. He keeps on saying that the race is tied. IMHO, O'Reilly is spinning on several fronts: At the very least he is trying to get Kerry on his show, so he is pandering. The Electoral College Polls shows the President with a sizable lead. National Polls mean little. O'Reilly knows if the President says I am sorry for Iraq it would be political suicide. Again, think of the soundbite the Democrats would have. This would help Kerry. The President on Friday night needs to address Kerry’s record and recent Global Test statements. So why O’Reilly on his radio program the day before the Presidential debates is highlighting the Iraq WMD instead of focusing on Kerry’s record? He is doing this because that’s the only hope Kerry has. If O’Reilly was really a no spinner and WAS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU he would have STRESSED SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE and endorsed President Bush after Kerry’s Global Test and other policy statements after the last debate. So deep down, O'Reilly is rooting for Kerry. The latest Iraq WMD report clearly shows t that Saddam’s endgame was to get the Sanctions lifted and then restart his WMD programs. According to the report, SADDAM WANTED NUCLEAR WEAPONS!! It’s the intent. That’s why Saddam had to be removed form power. I also, believe that the WMD were moved into other countries, like Syria.

You nailed it. I guess that the Gay parade protesting FOX news (sucks), at the RNC had an impact.

I tuned into FOX immediately following the Cheney/Edwards debate and was SHOCKED at the lack of enthusiasm for Cheney and grading the debate 50/50. "Was I watching FOX or CNN"?, I thought.

O'Reilly must have more of an influence around there than we realize.

Apologize for WMD's not being found ?? Sheesh!

Thanks for posting this JonDavid. This is the first I've heard about this.

First of all, there is NO WAY Bush will do this, of course. I think the weapons were moved as well, MOST LIKELY moved to Syria and other places. There HAVE been some found, but the media isn't reporting or is discounting those.

I have watched O'Reilly for about 5 years now, and it used to be I agreed with almost ALL of his opinions. However, the last year or two, it's like I don't even know him and have found myself chastising him and/or scratching my head wondering "where is THAT coming from?" He is different. He has changed. I have pretty much been ignoring his show, though my TV satellite still points to FOX during his show. I need to change that for the hour his show is on, simply on principal and to make a point.

I think he may be a Kerry supporter, but I noticed this week he refused to state who he is supporting.

Bill...is that you? Why are you defending BORE? It is obvious to anyone who has watched him since his inception on Fox, that he has shifted his positions. Yes the Left hates him...because at one time he was unabashed with his criticism of them. Today, he is a transparent, PC self-serving puke.

Ever since he has become the target of criticism from his MSM friends...and since FOX has been attacked as a right-wing network, BORE has bent over backwards to somehow dispell this myth. It is obvious that Bill has a thin skin and takes criticism, very personally. I've never seen someone (OK, Clinton) with such a desire to not only counter every criticism...but to try and be loved by everybody. The fact that he throws a bone to his base every once in a while doesn't take away from the fact that BORE is transparent oppurtunist.

I don't understand why Bill O'Reiily is being such a jerk lately? Is he trying to prove himself an "independent"?
Bill, I used to like you, but I believe you're losing me now.

Im really getting tired of O' Reilly and quite frankly I shudder to think what his interview of Kerry will be like. I see him sending up soft ball after softball.

The guy has turned into someone who wants to appeal to everyone. Contrast with Hannity & Combs.

I get nothing anymore from watching him.

His neutral posture which was in essence a "kiss Rather's butt" sickened me.

What really bugs me to is his constant questioning of George and Laura Bush about why the country is so divided. That really frosts me. He acts accusatory like its their fault.

Anybody out there have that picture of the dead possum in the middle of the road, with the yellow stripes across his back?

I propose (BOR rule) that any post about BOR be accompanied with this picture.

Thanks,

I Love your analysis on O’Reilly. I guess I never really thought that he had ambitions to take over Rather’s spot. But, now that you say it, it makes prefect sense.

I tend to agree that O’Reilly is making a career devastating move if indeed those are his intentions. By separating himself with what used-to-be his core, he is setting himself for the ultimate fall.
In the end, CBS is not buying O’Reilly. They would rather put one of their boy’s in, instead of taking a gamble somebody like O’Reilly. The jury is still out on whether viewers are really tuning into O’Reilly or they are really tuning into FNC.
Take O’Reilly off FNC and put him on CBS and I would bet viewers would not follow.

Like I said he really has gotten weak. His attacks have turn into to laughter. He gives out free passes left and right.
I remember when you used to cut people of and tell them the interview was over because they were spinning. He is now just a joker.
