Comparing the Iraq war to invading Mexico after Pearl Harbor is like comparing apples and pyramids. Although Mexico remained neutral in the months following the Pearl Harbor attack, it did not tilt toward the Axis and, in fact, entered the war on the side of the Allies in May, 1942. Saddam Hussein's Iraq, on the other hand, has for years been shooting missiles at our pilots, harboring terrorists, and trying to subvert our allies.
Perhaps a better World War II analogy to the Iraq war would be our invasion of French Morocco in 1942 or our bombing raids against targets in Hungary and Belgium. While these countries were ostensibly neutral, they were, in fact, helping the enemy.
Hewitt is such a homer that it's hard to take his theorizing and prognostications seriously. But in this case, I think his analysis reflects the opinions -- spoken or muzzled -- of a gret deal of political observers , myself included. About the only memorable issues are Kerry's global tst, and Bush's visible consternation. The Dems know this, hence the "facial gaffe" ads that followed; that's as substntive a messge s they were able to cull from the last debate.
Dude, get a new keyboard.
...Of all the talkers I watched, only Fred Barnes and Mort Kondracke put a verbal circle around "global test."See also, from www.REGISTEREDmedia.com:.The rest were rushing to comment on Bush's facial expressions. - Hugh Hewitt

The first debate went to Bush because the memorable exchange is one that continues to rightfully dog Kerry. Bush supporters can hope for better delivery from their candidate, but should be praying for more of the same from John Kerry. A suicide note that impresses with its flourishes is poignant, but it's still a suicide note .....
Excellent word picture - and hopefully prophetic!
Hmmmmmm. Freddy "The Beatle" Barnes and MOR-TON! Kondracke are both Fox News Channel guys. Is that a coincidence???
I read somewhere today (and I can't remember the source) that several in the press watching the debate thought Bush won. That would include David Gregory of NBC News. It was only hearing the opinions of the reporters that Kerry won did they reverse themselves and follow the crowd, like lemmings off the cliff.
One other pundit I was disappointed in was John Podhoretz of the NY Post. He intially said Bush won, then a few days later changed his mind and said after reading the polls that it was apparent that Kerry had won. I'm just hoping the American people are watching and making their own decisions.
No kidding. This keybod sucks.
