This is ridiculous. The administration should immediately lift this stupid quota. We need to draw the best and brightest here to remain competive economically. What a discrace!

We have the best and the brightest here already. Its not about that. It's about the cheapest.

Why pay a 35yo (or older) U.S. engineer $55k (or more) a year when you can get his cheaper foreign equivalent. Also when the project is done, you can ship his, differently colored, arse back to wherever he/she came from.

There is no evidence that foreigners are the best and brightest and that is not why they are being brought in by the thousands --- they are being brought in only for being cheaper. Unlimited low-cost labor disrupts the balance between employers and employees --- wages go up when there is a shortage of employees, the higher wages attract more into the field, then wages stabilize. Globalism is done deliberately to destroy this balance.

No, the real disgrace is that America has become SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BARREN AND INFERTILE BECAUSE OF PROTECTION OF LIBERALISM and SOCIALIST POLICIES of BORROWING OR TAKING OTHER PEOPLE's TALENTS.

It's the other way around. These people can't work here normally. There are more than enough Americans to fill these jobs. Of course these visas fill up rapidly; what American company wouldn't jump at the government candy of legally importing SLAVES in leiu of hiring Americans.

Bull$hit my friend the H1B program has been a scam from day 1!!

There has NEVER been a shortage of talented professionals in the US... its all a huge lie so that companies can hire a foreigner pay them 50-60% of the prevailing wage and effectively have a captive employee because they can hold their h1B sponsorship over their heads once they are employed.

The entire program is a joke and a scam frankly 65,000 is a far too high of a quota. If some consulting firm, run by indians for indians in the US has to go out of business because their little money printing scheme of H1B visas is gone, America will be better off for it.

It isn't that there aren't any engineers in the US, it is that a foriegn born US educated engineer will work for peanuts while a US born citizen will not.

Where have YOU been? Ever been to grad school? Ever gone to an IEEE conference? Ever read a technical book? We HAVE been attracting the best and the brightest here since the 40's. This H1b situation is something a bit different.

There is a BIG difference between legal immigration, which is fine by me, and EXPOITATION. Some folks here apparently don't know the difference.

You're being sarcastic - aren't you? Because the skilled people are everywhere. They just want to be paid what they're worth. Aren't you the same way?
