October 4, 2004 -- Was John Kerry trying to pull something at the debate last week? That question was burning up the Internet yesterday after a slo-mo review of the footage showed the Massachusetts senator taking an object out of his right pocket before the first question.
Was it a cheat sheet as some conservative bloggers claimed or was it something innocuous?
Either way, it would violate the debate rules agreed to by both campaigns: "No props, notes . . . or other tangible things may be brought into the debate."
Many blogs offered links to the "Pocket-gate" footage. One, INDC Journal, even posted frame-by-frame stills purporting to show Kerry pulling out a notecard and placing it onto the podium.
But the mystery was solved when The Post reviewed a Fox News Channel feed from Thursday's debate: Kerry pulled out . . . a black pen.

On the other hand, the modern press, particularly left wing nuts like GERSH KUNTZMAN, should have watch dogs. When they lie and we can prove it, we should expose them. This often means having a lot of people with different talents and backrounds going over tedius little details.
The writer of this article is a liberal democrat. Please see the following article -
American Beat: Indecision 2004

Whether you're a liberal Democrat like me or a conservative Republican (you know, one of those people who annoy me), it's safe to say that you think this coming election presents the nation with a very clear choice: To dump Bush or not to dump Bush.

He was most likely told it was a pen, looked at the feed quickly - agreed, and wrote the article. Hopefully Hannity looks at the Fox feed today also.
I was surprised that this article came from the New York Post, since they are fairly conservative. This makes it more understandable.
Kuntzman must be their token Lib.
Since the response to the question, from the left is, "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?" -- I think this merits a huge reaction from FR and all other conservative sites.
Kerry is a cheater. Breaks the rules HE agreed to.
You have got to be kidding. You're not paying attention.
Wow, I stayed up late last night reading thousands of messages on 2 threads about this as it 'broke'. There is NO way that is a pen (and even if it were, its NOT LEGAL according to the rules).
Does anyone else sense panicked sweeping on the part of the liberal media to try desperately to make this go away? I mean they ended the story by basically saying,'mystery solved, all's well, move along'. Me thinks this things got legs.
Have you seen this High Def Feed of the pen? I did not notice any evidence presented with the article, which seems curious being that the reporter asserts the case is closed. I would Rather not take his word for it.
Not a black pen, either. So why did the NYP and FNC willfully blow it?
Their website is www.debates.org
can't find an email there but they have a letter pdf to the campaigns with their address

What he pulled out of his pocke was white and larger than a pen.
But everyone -without- internet access and who heard about it only on TV will believe.
Those of us who have seen the white rectangular object being pulled out and unfolded will be labeled as "loons".
This is how 'discrediting' works.
You just watch.
Tell it to Gunga Dan. I love the interent :)
NeoCon
Seems to me it should be fairly simplistic to convince us that we were wrong- show US the video that shows what it actually is...
This is getting to be much like a subtle yet very serious "war".
*The* reality vs. *their* 'reality'.

I hope you're not holding your breath while you're waiting for *that* to happen...:))
Well, are we gonna believe what they tell us or our lyin' eyes? :)
