Just announced on CNN.
IEM actually caught Gore's surge and predicted his win the night before the election.

The reality, everyone, is that just because Bush was ahead did for a few moments did not mean that the electorate had somehow become more enlightened. We see how impressionable roughly 10-15% of the population is. They don't know very much and they pick up whatever "buzz" happens to be circulating through the media and thereby the society. It is a scary thought: media buzz will swing this election. The media is currently working up a frenzy over the Kerry "victory" and Bush's "smirk." It's very sad that this could swing an election. But, of course, if you ever start thinking the American people are enlightened, go out and look at everyone!
I'm not surprised.
I was at work and had to read the transcript of the debate. I though President Bush won hands down. Then, I saw a replay and was embarrased for President Bush. He looked tired and irritated, while Senator Kerry looked polished.
Once the Rebublican party starts talking issues and Kerry's lack of substance in the debate, people will really see why President Bush is the man for the job.
What the Bush campaign really has to do, is learn from the last debate. Kerry can do no better than he did last Thursday. He's all fluff and Bush needs to call him on it.
I am basing WI on the 2000 election when it voted exactly like the nation as a whole. a 49-49 race nationally would be a 49.1-48.9 race in WI and IA.
you have no idea what you're talking about. That is obvious.
Hey, didn't we ALL say they were setting Pres. Bush up for a big fall, with the inflated polls? Even if Bush had shown up 100% himself and not exhausted at the debate, this is what was planned. The fact he didn't do as well as expected just adds to it.
I ALWAYS thought Pres. Bush had a 4-5% lead...during the Kerry "surge", the Kerry meltdown, and now during his so-called meltdown. Don't pay attention to polls, or to the media and Dem rhetoric..Keep working and VOTE for Bush.
Gee wiz, it's only one friggin debate.
whys is that?
the fact is the states move quite predictabally with the national polls.
Bush blew it big time!!
I think we'd better wake up and smell the zot.
Go away!
problem is there are tow more and that debate was suppose to be Bush strong point.
Obviously, we're doomed. Kerry will win Georgia by 7 percentage points!
...oh wait.
no, they don't. Especially when they lead inside the state has been wider than the national average.
You can't extrapolate what is going on state to state by one poll that you dont' even have the internals for.
Maybe you can, because you're here from DU to spread doom and gloom around.
The internals were mixed. Bush was leading Kerry on the economy, but now Kerry has pulled ahead. Bush is still leading on Iraq and terrorism, but by smaller margins. I don't know the exact numbers...gotta wait for the internals.
The thing is W better come out firing hard during the next two debates. His performance for whatever reason (fatigue, gentlemanly courtesy) was not confident and was not nearly smooth enough (even by W's standards).
No question he can and he will. He needs to put F'n on the defensive about his complete and total lack of Senate record, and no record of leadership in his entire life. Kerry will try to come out firing hard on the economy next debate, making all kinds of lying claims about job loss and middle class squeeze. W needs to be locked and loaded, shut him down and make him look like the fool he is.
He needs to have the statistics memorized and talk loud and proud about the accomplishments his administration and the country have achieved since 911.
Kerry as we now know will come across as a smooth talker (just like a used car salesman), and W needs to match that so that the soft mushhead undecideds don't get the wrong impression again. A little more practice wouldn't hurt.
Full speed ahead, and damn the torpedoes!
Watch the larger story, don't focus on one silly poll.
Isn't that when the RATS released the 30+ year old DWI thing on Bush? This is still doable for Bush but he better come out smokin' in this next debate! Why the President ever agreed to 3 debates is beyond me.
Actually you can. based on the three most previous elections OH is 3-4 point more GOP than the nation. IA and WI about equal to the national average. CA, IL are about6 point more DEM, PA and MI about 3 points more DEM. Sometimes you get an outlier like NJ this time or IA in 1988, but you can predict a states polling average accurately using national polls.
