Forgive the vanity, but it was so simple to do, and i just don't understand why it was not done.

W is a nice guy.... and he didn't need to directly engage Kerry. Keep the high ground and Bush wins regardless.

It was as if Bush left his offense home. The race is too young just to try to run out the clock. A halfway decent offense last night would have put Kerry in the morgue.
And what you're suggesting is exactly what Bush is doing - on the stump today. But it's a day too late. A lost opportunity.

We need to put the 'dead kitten' warning at the top of the post page. Maybe then people will THINK before they post.....

blah blah blah, shoulda coulda woulda.
Fact is GW Bush is not the debator either Jeb or his Father were.
GHW Bush was one of the meanest debators ive ever seen in 1984 and 1988.
Somedays I wish Jeb had won FLA in 1994, so he'd be President today

My come-back line would have been when Kerry said he would only go to war as a "Last Resort"
My reply would have been...
"Senator, as a student of history, I can tell you that nations that only went to war as a "Last Result" most often lost that war. The choice of war should be made when it is the "Best Available Option" and not waiting until the situation deteriorates to the point of desperation and war becomes the only resort remaining. That is how I have dealt with Afghanistan and Iraq, and it is how any responsible president should deal with any future threats to our security.

I wish G.W. would have said something along those lines as well - But the real knockout punch - The one that would have been repeated over and over and over on every nightly news program.....was
When Jim Lerhrer asked Kerry which position he would take on the Nukes in North Korea ....and Kerry responded "BOTH"!!!-
G.W. Bush should have said...."America, that is my opponent in a nut-shell....When tasked with a difficult decision he just responded he wanted to have it BOTH ways. Well, my fellow Americans, 99% of the time when it comes to making difficult decisions a leader can't have it both ways. He has to make a decision that he thinks is right and then have the courage of his convictions to stick by that decision".
That would have won the debate and this election.

For me it was the remark by sKerry about us not pursuing Osama.
I would have replied that all available evidence point to the conclusion that he's dead!

I submit to those that wish they had a chance to answer questions or respond with rebuttal last night, that Monday morning quarterbacking is called exactly that for good reason. Many times I heard things also I wish were thrown back in maggot-Lurches face, but it didn't happen.
Sorry, but it is what it is, and we live with it and move on.
IMO, Kerry's Monday morning quarterbacking about Iraq is shameful, deceitful and just plain wrong, so I'm not going to second guess our President on what he should have/could have said last night.
I think there was enough said by Kerry that will give us ammo for weeks to come. He is so boxed right now that he cant say anything without falling into a trap already meticulously set by Karl Rove, so this will pass ok.
And so what if our President isn't the best debater of the two...I'd rather have our President, with all the strengths he does have, than the poodle with all his weaknesses.
Everything has been going great for Republicans since the RNC. This didn't go as well as we liked. So Suck it up, relax, regroup, still wake up every day and thank God you're a Republican, and we'll see everybody here on Nov. 3rd for a the biggest honkin victory party this blog has ever SEEN!!! DUBYA ROCKS!!!

I would have rather seen this answer to kerrys remark about not signing on to the world court:
"Not only would allowing the world court to step in allow our troops to be dragged in and prosecuted for whatever charge one of our enemies decide to press; it would also allow the world court to bring my opponent up on charges of war crimes he has admitted to having committed in Vietnam during his senate testimony."
What answer would the idiot have to that?

What's done is done. Seems like Kerry won the debate but GWB will still win because he has earned it and he deserves it.
