The Washington state headquarters for the president's re-election campaign was broken into last night, and police are investigating the theft of three computers from the Bellevue office. Missing are the computers used by the campaign's executive director, the head of the get-out-the-vote effort and one that had been set for delivery to the campaign's Southwest Washington field director, said Jon Seaton, executive director of the state's George W. Bush campaign.
Seaton said data on the computers was backed up and available elsewhere. But, he said, the loss creates a potential security breach about the campaign's so-called 72-hour plan, the Bush get-out-the-vote effort.
"Obviously there's some stuff there we wouldn't want our opposition getting their hands on," Seaton said.
The campaign has spoken about the importance of the 72-hour plan in swing states across the country. Bush campaign officials say it could make the difference in a close election if Republicans are able to make sure their voters get to a polling place on election day and don't sit home as many did four years ago.
Seaton was the first one in the office this morning. He did not notice the break-in until he walked into his office and saw a rock and broken glass on the floor.
A side window of the office on 112-th Ave. N.E. had been smashed.
Seaton said this morning that the campaign staff was still checking to see if anything else had been stolen.
State Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance called it a "Watergate-style break in" and said he suspects Democrats are behind it.
"If you're just some burglar looking for computers to sell to buy drugs you take every laptop in the office maybe," he said. "But they knew exactly whose computers to get. They got the executive director's computer and the get-out-the-vote director's computer."
State Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said Democrats had nothing to do with the break-in.
"I feel really bad. I know how upset I'd be if it happened to us," she said.
"There was nothing for us to gain by stealing those computers. Their secret plan isn't so secret and the fact is we're winning by a lot right now."
Vance said the break in follows reports of vandalized Bush campaign signs and what he said were telephone calls to voters alleging Bush would reinstate a military draft if re-elected.
"To me there is some scary stuff going on from liberal radicals whose Bush hatred is out of control," Vance said.
Well, they were making a point that it wasn't a regular storefront-type building, where some kid walking by might try something.
I agree. However, watch the MSM in Seattle Ho-Hum this one.
Some of the other areas in the state might pay a little attention, but the Seattle metro area is so far gone down the leftist path that they will only regret that no Republicans were hurt during the burglary.
Carlson made the point that Bush-haters would have vandalized the place. He's right.
This apparently is making the national news. Maybe we can go over the heads of the local "news".
Did you know that Bakshi actually animated a feature length Lord of the Rings? It covers halfway through the trilogy, but no sequel was ever filmed. It was odd.
If W wins in a few weeks, look for the Democratic base to start turning to violent (terroristic) means to try to force their agenda.
CWII is on the way.
On the positive side, I saw a poll where Dave Reichert had a 16 point lead over that leftist garbage Dave Ross.
bump
Hmmmmm.....today, while I was working at the Pierce Cty Headquarters, a couple of the "competition" showed up....introduced themselves....saying, "we just want to see what's up with the competition".....and we shared a few sentences. They asked about what we thought of the debate....I said "FINE." I asked what they thought and the gal said they "were VERY happy" As thet left they said, "keep up the good work" on their way out the door......but I was not about to let them into the office more than about 10 feet.....LOL. It was kinda weird.
Reichert will crush Ross.
Your wrong that Rossi and Nethercutt don't have a real chance. Longshot? Yes on Nethercutts part, not on Rossi, he's only a slight underdog. I'd say other then Dashle and Merkowski, Murray and Feingold are the only two realistic incumbents that might lose.
Id like nothing better than to see Osama Bin Murray defeated, but I believe that Jennifer Dunn is the only Republican who could do it. I was very disappointed when she passed on the opportunity.
There was a headline I believe in the TNT - that the Rossi/Gregoire race was a tie. But then the body of the article listed the margin at something like 47-41, Gregoire. Id love to see Dino win, but Gregoire has several great advantages:
- Democrat
- Woman
- Seattle
- Fawning press
Yah, but she has several disadvantages too:
-Can't run her office without losing millions
-People pissed at Olympia status-quo more then ever
-Unlike Maria Cantwell, 0 'babe' factor, she's very unattractive and not very likable in person.
-Rossi. He's a GREAT campaigner. In any swing true state or conservative leaning state, he'd be a shoe-in.
Gregoir is a slight favorite, but only slight. And while I don't expect Nethercutt to win, I wouldn't be surprised either. While he isn't nearly as attractive of a candidate as Dunn, he's a good campaigner, and he's closing fast, and hey, he beat Tom Foley afterall! I wouldn't count him out till the fight is finished.
I too detest Ross. Arrogant prick who hasn't ever done anything but talk in his whole life. Opposite of Reichert. Confedent but not arrogant, and has actually accomplished a LOT in his life.
Oh, and I forgot, NOT well liked by the Liberal establishment. They REALLY liked Sims, and a lot of people arn't happy that she beat him so badly in the primary.
No, it's not easy to find. It's a smallish office building in a mostly residential area.
Oh, and one last thing, the poll you talked about had a margin of error of + or - 5%, so that is within the margin of error. At least one other poll had them virtually tied at 45%-43%.
That makes three... Virginia, Ohio, and now Washington state.
You can bet that democrats are behind this.
AND THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA WILL DODGE THIS LIKE MAD!
All you will hear this weekend is....
"Kerry won the debate. He looked soooo Presidential.
He cleared up the stance he takes on the issues..(which he did not. He contradicted himself from one statement to the next). Bush looked like he did not want to be there"
Which is exactly the talking point that the DNC sent out before the debate was even over! The media is already using those points.
They are going to use those talking points to affect the poles.
BUT WE WON'T SEE SQUAT ON THE NETWORKS OR CABLE NEWS ABOUT THIS BREAK IN BY DEMOCRATS.
OK, I 'give.' What is the story on the brother? This state is 2:1 dems and whatever everyone is talking about is not covered by the news reports here. What did the brother do, exactly?
It amazes me that Ross can paint himself as a moderate and get away with it. In Seattle, anyone even slightly to the right of McDermott is miraculously considered "moderate." How is it that people who are pro-abort; pro-gay; pro-illegal immigration; pro-tax hikes; pro-criminal; etc., etc., are considered "moderate" out here?
For the same reason that Ahnuld could get elected as a Republican in Cleeforneea : )
As far as the trolls go, they seem to be coming out in droves today, don't they? I guess DU is too full.
