Thread 1 - Pre-Debate discussion
The knuckleheads who make up the "undecideds" (how in the world can ANYONE be undecided at this late stage of the game?) will vote for the guy who comes across better on television. Their perceptions are shaped wholly by Big Media, and if someone looks slick on the tube he'll gain their loyalty.
Witness the eight years of Clinton.
Luh-vey...do you remember when the island held presidential elections? The millionaire Mr. Howell didn't win.
"The liberals know about Freep; they have no equivalent so they flock here to try to jerk our chains. The only thing to do is to point out that they are trolling."
There were more trolls out tonight at this site and at another live blogging site than can be found running around on Hallowe'en night. I agree that they're out to pull our chains and to spread discouragement.
This debate was at most a draw, like the first Bush-Gore one. No harm, no foul, IMHO.
I know that Kerry is a lying, opportunistic bastard. But, tonight, he is a polished, prepared and articulate lying opportunistic bastard. I don't think that this will cost Bush any of the support of those already committed. But, I don't see him picking up any undecided votes unless feminine intuition can reach through the TV and see Kerry through his facade.
Bush was horrible. I love him and support him, but he really sucked tonight. Just damn....
After being a monthly contributing member for years this is my first post, I am very proud to have been a quiet freeper for many years but am more honored to have had the opportunity to be supportive of all of the great participants of Free Republic. You guys are all great and when anything is going on, I am in awe of the quick insight and accurate comments and viewpoints that the people here post. Thank you all.
Wrong War Comments = More Muhammadan Suiciders
Way to go sKerry!
He missed many opportunities to bring serious questions for Kerry.
Sadly, I agree with you. Maybe the next debate will be better...
Personally, I think she's on meds and they gave her a double dose to put her in la la land and KEEP her mouth shut.
Nah. It takes a great deal of character and self control to restrain from opportunities to insult, especially when they are served up on a silver platter. That particular platter was a booby trap. Fortunately President Bush is no booby.
Your comments are right on target.
Yep - but then he "slipped it in" on just about every answer from that point on....
I'm afraid so. For those who understand the facts and are truly informed on this issue, as most here are, the debates themselves are moot. The point is how this will come of the the swing voters who get their news from Dan Rather sound-bites, MTV, or the Daily Show. From that purely objective point of view I think this one will go in favor of Kerry's numbers.
I have my fingers crossed that I am wrong.
Even tho he doesn't say anything he appeals to dumber people in an oily way. That's why he's a Senator.
And that's why I'm encouraged. This was his high point. And he didn't look too good.
Bush did fine.
Quit putting so much into debates.
Bush did fine.
Quit putting so much into debates.
Kerry is obviously a very skilled and polished debater. Bush is not. Kerry can say a lot of words without saying much of anything. Bush says a lot in one sentence. Kerry comes across as a laywer, Bush pretty much talks the way I would.
Dont want to wake up on Nov.3,with a President Kerry looming in our future? THEN GET OUT THERE AND WORK YOUR BUTTS OFF,TO GET PRESIDENT BUSH RE-ELECTED!
