There have been several "live threads" posted today regarding the debate starting early this morning. Let's make this the official thread.
FR Live Thread: Bush Kerry - First Debate - Thread 2 - Here we go!
Good Lord, what kind of little story is he telling right now?
OOOOH----KYOTO. We forgot to put kyoto in the drinking game!
I'm going right to bed when this is over because I can not bear to hear what the talking heads are going to say. My fear is that it's not going to be good for the President.
I have my mute button on.
COW COUNTIN'A cowboy was herding his herd in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him.
The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses, YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"
The cowboy looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure. Why not?"
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany.
Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formula. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.
Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1586 cows and calves."
"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says the cowboy.
He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.
Then the cowboy says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?" The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"
"You're a democrat consultant" says the cowboy.
"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked; and you don't know anything about my business...
.......Now give me back my dog.
I must say, my "Merlot Haze" probably puts me on even keel with "undecideds". Kerry is LOSING me with his school-teacher droning. I feel like Pres. Bush is talking to ME.
Global Test?
What? Is this guy real?
Ok, so how many photos can we dig up of him trying to catch a ball... with his EYES CLOSED???
If I were looking as one of those 18% of people who were depending upon the debate to make up my mind, the President just got his ass whupped. He was hemming and hauling all over the place. He got out classed, out talked and out debated.
Leher s a blantant partisan.
Dear Lord, help the American people see the TRUTH. PLEASE, LORD!
Global test? Global warming? LOL! Kerry is losing it.
Bush shows more character and keeps hammering the same points.
The abstract analogy is symbolism vs. substance, talk vs. action.
Excuse me while I pass some Global GAS!
I can't believe we are an hour into this and the president has not talked about Gulf I when the traitor voted no even though the entire world was with us.
Right
and wrong or left
It's not going to be good for Bush 95% of the media will say kerry won hands down....over and over and over.
Kerry was actually even nodding away while Bush was quoting the "voted for it before I voted against it". He looks like a bobblehead.
Yes! Not pre-emptive to pass the global test... pre-emptive only to protect the American people...
Kerry contradicts himself in these debates about presidential war making preemption. "Passes Global Test"
Bush is hammering him on ICC now.
