Fox News Bill O'Reilly Admits His Liberalism and Democrat tilt
Wire Reports/The Spokesman-Review | 9-25-2004 | Unknown

Posted on 09/25/2004 5:41:06 PM PDT by lilylangtree

On Sunday's "60 Minutes" during which he is interviewed by longtime CBS newscaster Mike Wallace, Fox News Commentator Bill O'Reilly comes out with some surprising comments. He says he is pro-gun control, anti-death penalty, for civil unions and for gay adoption, (as a last resort instead of state custody). And he won't necessarily vote for President Bush in November.

I've known (Democratic presidential nominee John) Kerry for 25 years. He's a patriot. I'm listening to what he has to say," O'Reilly says.

"Man, what a boost for Rush, Fox AND all of us if he did it."

There is no rational argument against what you say. Rush can make three hours pass faster than any Movie I have ever seen, including Gone With the Wind, and he can do it every day of the week and make weekends and his vacations seem like eternities.

One of the reasons other than what you mentioned for his giving up TV, was that it takes twice as long as you are on the air, just getting ready to go on the air.

He doesn't need the money, or the aggrivation, for sure. Someone would have to appeal to his Patriotic nature, someone very convincing-George Bush?

That's why its very enlightening sometimes to listen to the other points of view - confirming our core beliefs! Even if privately O'Reilly knew W is the only clear choice, he won't go out on a limb to say so. But...showing Kerry's old interview was like he said interesting. If he was so stuck on Kerry he wouldn't have run his old interview with him saying the opposite what is now Kerry's current stance on Iraq. O'Reilly keeps you guessing - I think that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Agree with you.

Don't care what guy's politics is as long as he's up front and doesn't lie about it and tries to be fair.

I happen to think if news is presented in a fair manner most Americans can see through the propaganda BS. Some of the announcers on Fox do have liberal leanings but they do a pretty good job of presenting both sides.

But then I remember the many years of the Big Three and no conservative talk radio or Internet or conservative newspapers. Talk about your worst nightmare.

I'll take an O'Reily broadcast to any of them any day. If they couldn't make me sellout my values no snob like O'Reily will.

They'll report. I'll decide.

Just like always.

> she looks like she's talking out of one side of her mouth

... which I suppose is an improvement -- she used to talk out of BOTH sides of her mouth....

I'm not surprised he was a closet liberal for so long. He was born out of the liberal media culture and hiding the truth comes easy.

This will be a the beginning of the end for O'Reilly when this airs on SeeBS.

Conservatives are the base of alot of his popularity etc. I'm really disappointed and disgusted that he's so 2 faced. Especially in his great admiration for Kerry, omg.

I like many things about the History Channel, but to be watching an interesting historical program, and suddenly to be blindsided and jarred with a PC liberal agenda, clinches it for me, I am out of there muy pronto with a single click.

Me too!

He shouldn't be a disappointment if you've watched him. I think he's angling for "respectability" among the media elite. He wants to be considered one of the big boys and that means adopting the liberal mindset. i gave

You nailed him. What irritates me the most about O'Reilly is his pretentious "middle of the road" stance. It is impossible to be politically neutral, yet Bill O'Reilly would have everyone think that "neutrality" is his ideology. He may as well join Kerry and declare himself a flip flopper! I've lost all respect for O'Reilly, a man I once considered grounded, fair and above media scrutiny. Compromise has become his mantle.

The very fact that he's not yet decided on who he'll vote for President speaks volumes. I used to think O'Reilly was intelligent. Now I know he's one stupid idiot whose dying for attention. ANYONE who is seriously considering voting for John Kerry after examining his record as a Senator and illegal war protestor, should be ashamed. I hope O'Reilly loses his job. He totally disgusts me.

"O'Reilly is not going to go to that extreme because he's afraid to as he has to project himself as independent. "

I suppose that we disagree upon the meaning of the word "extreme". Frankly truth is quite extreme to some and obviously that applies to orielly.

I've known (Democratic presidential nominee John) Kerry for 25 years. He's a patriot. I'm listening to what he has to say," O'Reilly says. WRONG, Bill, wrong, wrong, wrong. You don't "know" John Kerry - nobody does. And Bill, if you think Kerry is a patriot, you weren't listening to him in 1971 - or during his 20 years in the Senate - or during his campaign. Bill, here's a clue you won't have to buy - it's actions that count, not words. Now, away with you - back to your spin zone.

Any man who LIES to the Senate,on items of national interest or national security, about being in Cambodia in '68, 1-to pump up his own image, and 2-to promote his own agenda IS NO PATRIOT This is a man who his more interested in his own importance, instead of the well being of the country he's supposed to be "SERVING".

Notice-Bill Clinton used the office of president for HIS OWN legacy.

Notice-Al Gore wanted to sue,and have recounts done until the numbers satisfied his wants. Not to mention, not wanting the military ballots to be counted.

Notice-John Kerry will say anything, and do anything to be president.

All these men seem to have two things in common. 1-There all Democrats. 2-Being president is all about them.

I think Oreily did a ratings analyis and figured if he could fake being Rush lite he would be able to be bigger than Rush. He is not honest, he just dives to the percieved middle, which the MSM has established as left. (homosexual adoption, civil unions, opposing FMA)

I agree with you - I meant extreme to the left or extreme to the right. He should really have made a better so called "3 week investigation" than he did where he was only looking at documentary evidence and did not interview all 264 vets and credit their eyewitness. He shouldn't have bragged that he investigatede the matter when he didn't do "due diligence" (on that point, he is like the MSM).

I'm in agreement with ladyinred. O'Reilly has never been anything but a liberal. He just has a gimmick on his show, which draws viewers.
