Fox News Bill O'Reilly Admits His Liberalism and Democrat tilt
Wire Reports/The Spokesman-Review | 9-25-2004 | Unknown

Posted on 09/25/2004 5:41:06 PM PDT by lilylangtree

On Sunday's "60 Minutes" during which he is interviewed by longtime CBS newscaster Mike Wallace, Fox News Commentator Bill O'Reilly comes out with some surprising comments. He says he is pro-gun control, anti-death penalty, for civil unions and for gay adoption, (as a last resort instead of state custody). And he won't necessarily vote for President Bush in November.

I've known (Democratic presidential nominee John) Kerry for 25 years. He's a patriot. I'm listening to what he has to say," O'Reilly says.

"Liberals bash O'Reilly for being too conservative and conservatives bash him for being too liberal."

I bash him because he is a carnival act who has phonied up an image that's a combination of street "cred" and intellect.

Sounds pretty close to the criticism I posted. I think the image he attempts to portray is phoney.

However he is #1 on cable so he must be doing something right when it comes to a entertaining TV format.

No suprises here, but it really p*sses me off to hear O'Blowhard claim he's not biased as he insults the Swifties and calls for more gun control.

"The conservatives need a network, 'cuz Fox seems adrift and sliding left."

A 24-7 conservative news and commentary TV channel would be hoot. With the right funding and format of moderators and guests, it would be up near any other channel in veiwer ship almost immediately. I know where I would definetly be spending my tube time.

Face it, we all go to where our core beliefs are confirmed, I have reached a point where anything with even a hint of liberalism or PC turns me off, and I then turn them off.

I like many things about the History Channel, but to be watching an interesting historical program, and suddenly to be blindsided and jarred with a PC liberal agenda, clinches it for me, I am out of there muy pronto with a single click.

I quit listening to that pompous cretin a long time ago. And apparently the ratings show I was not alone.

For years, I've been trying to convince people of this (that O'Reilly is NOT conservative). So this doesn't come as a very big shock. However, I did used to think he was "fair and balanced" -- and I think, perhaps, this was really true in the early days of "The O'Reilly Factor." But not for a long time. I used to watch his show every night, but haven't done so for a few years.

Good evening, my friend,

Your instincts on O'Reilly were sharper than mine. I took him seriously (maybe) for about a year. Then I checked out his website and its snotty "premium members" section. Then I heard him hawking is "Factor gear." Then I watched him blow a major story of this election year -- the Swifties -- as badly and for the same reason as the MSM.

Since I'm a little slow on the uptake, it wasn't until then that I concluded that O'Reilly was a waste of time.

I've been trying to link up with The Spokesman Review and look under the People section with the title "Angry Elton goes ballistic, truly feels no love tonight" because the blurb about O'Reilly is the next one after Elton John blurb entitled "You never know which way the spin goes". Unfortunately, the website for the paper won't recognize me since the last time I accessed it was in March 2004. Frustrating.

It is typical. Start conservative then when he can fake it anymore his true colors become exposed.

Now it becomes a question of what else is on during his time slot.

> We can now positively identify both Greta and Bill as liberals.

I remember my flesh crawling when it was announced that Greta was coming to FNC. I said to myself, "How can they be hiring this pinhead?"

To be as objective as I can, I think she has (for the most part) lived up to "fair and balanced" presentation, despite her personal views. But I will NEVER get used to the way she speaks -- as if her upper and lower teeth were glued together.

I rarely ever watch BO anymore. He seems to have moved more and more to the left in the last few months. I change channels now.

Anyone know if it's possible to put Rush Limbaugh into BO's spot?

Now all we freepers know. Big disappointment.

I have more respect for Dan Rather than Bill O'Reilly. Dan Rather is fairer and more consistent.

"solicitous toward the rap music industry"----
----good point I hadn't considered. It's as though he made a crusade out of getting Ludakris fired from his Pepsi contract, only for the sake of getting Russell Simmons on , so he could kiss his butt, and come out of it leaving Simmons with a good impression of O Reilly, and his and Simmons' audience with a good impression of both of them.
Russell Simmons is the Bill Gates of Hip Hop, and O Reilly only wants to deal with MAJOR figures like himself.

"Meanwhile, Scarborough is discusing the forged memos with interesting guests."

I admit I had written Scarborough off until the Rathergate story broke. He has had more serious in depth discussion on the matter than the rest of the media hacks combined.

I am back for now and will stick with him, until he sticks it to the conservatives again.

Chrissy just makes me want to puke.

"Who distributes O'reily's books?"

"Will it be disclosed on 60 minutes?"

If the distributor is not disclosed, it won't come as a suprise. If the distributor is disclosed, the name won't come as a suprise.

The only way CBS can suprise anyone, is by telling the truth. For the sake of our health, we should not hold our breath.

I have never been able to watch Greta.

I think she must have had an illness or something which caused her to speak like that. (some kind of stroke or palsey?)

I've always found him to be a shallow-minded boor. He's never had an original idea, and he's never been the least bit entertaining.......Laura Ingraham would be an excellent replacement. She's intelligent, open-minded, highly entertaining, an a lot better looking than Bill.

How about Steyn...Mark Steyn (though Ben Stein might be fun for a fill in now and then)

I've got the same reaction to Greta that you do. But I was disinclined to like her before she had her surgery and switched to Fox. I know and have worked with her husband, John Coale. He's a hot-shot liability lawyer of the John Edwards type.

Lastly, there's the point that they are Scientologists, IIRC. I always have doubts about that. (And yes, I know about John Travolta.)

Sorry. I just can't watch her. I rarely watch Joe Scar on MSNBC anymore, either, since his bad treatment of the swift boat vets. So, it's music time on my cd player, or the dicovery channel on cable, or movie channel, or anything but Greta.

Considering that his true leanings have been somewhat hidden, he's doing a good job as a media person.

He shouldn't be coming out with an obvious bias like the rest of the big league media talking heads. And since many of us here assumed he was of the right (but apparently not), then perhaps he's properly fulfilling the fair and balanced role well. He may not be a conservative, but he does seem to have the right views on many topics and isn't steeped in liberal talking points.
