Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
I like how they named the towns and cities. Gives me more of an idea of where the storm is heading.
My thoughts and prayers are with anyone in the path of the hurricane. What a hurricane season, eh? Horrifying!
I evacuated to Sevierville for Frances and came back to Fla. while Ivan was headed to Alabama. I should have just stayed! I will be leaving my mobile home in Apopka for a block house in Zellwood.
Beautiful day in SC.
Poor folks down south just don't need anymore of this crap. Nor do we in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
It's all Kerry's fault! ;-) Jeanne was heading away, Kerry visits Florida, and then bam, she makes a sharp turn right at us.
Checking in from Orlando....hope everyone does ok!
Thanks for letting me know when. I'll be saying prayers for everyone in Florida.
I think if I was there I'd be walking around with a zombie look on my face, kind of a 'not again' look. It's way past time for the good folks in Florida to have some breathing room in between these hurricanes.
Hurricane check-in and ping. floriduh voter from Plywood Nation
The Tampa Bay Bucs, former Super Bowl Champs, get to postpone home games if we have hurricanes. I think Coach Gruden has something to do with it.
Well, my boat made it thru Frances. It's tied up and secure in Stuart. I drove over to the west coast yesterday. Spending a few days at the Hyatt, in Bonita Springs.
The boating industry will have trouble recovering from this mess. My boat insurance is due on October 17th, got the notice the premium has been increased by $600. Damn, I didn't have any claims.
Stay safe......

Best place for "instant" updates..
What's the political wind (no oun intended) down there? Are people growling about slow response...no response? Are people getting everything they need? Will voting be a contention again because so many are displaced and homes distroyed. Is there a plan to get people to the polls who have lost their cars? Anyone in FL have insight into what political damage has been done...if any? Are people angry at the state or fed government over getting everything back into order?

Needs repeating.
Regardless that this is a "100 year Hurricane Season", Dems and Libs will do their best to take advantage of the destruction and tragedy in Florida..
Do Recall.. JANET RENO MADE A NAME FOR HERSELF DURING HURRICANE ANDREW..
The political climate will depend heavily on State and Federal aid getting in there quickly, and effectively..
Looting and other crimes will have to be dealt with "hard and fast", and some people's "feelings" may be hurt...
But in the final analysis, perception of "republicans" will depend much on how important Jeb Bush and G.W.Bush get life "back to normal" in Florida..
Any slacking on that agenda could very well cost Bush the entire state in November..

Hey neighbor:) good luck and stay safe! (Casselberry)
I'm getting sick and tired of spending my weekends doing hurricane prep.
And another thing, I really hate how the news presents the path as gospel. Look at how accurate the NHC has been at being able to predict the location of the turn! They are good at predicting a turn, just not very accurate on where it will happen (in the big picture, they are very accurate as they can get it within a hundred miles, in the little picture - will my house get nailed - they are inaccurate).
Time to get to work - stay safe everyone.
But has response been good so far? How is FEMA doing? What's the general buzz?
Hey Rome, I am in Pensacola. I'd put them back up. ;-)
Ch. 13 took poll a few days ago in I-4 corridor. 51% Bush/38% Kerry. Jeb Bush is called the Hurricane Governor and his brother is the Crisis President. Every time a hurricane comes through, they both are on the news to reassure the people. Someone lied on Jeb and tried to say he rationed gasoline last hurricane but that was not true. One man in Pensacola had tears in his eyes after President Bush shook his hand twice. He said it was a defining moment in his life and he can't say enough what it meant.
