The main steam media is down playing the success of the Presidents visit yesterday. How about telling us what really happened.

A link to this page is going to be the lead article on today’s update on Christian-news-in-maine.com.

Thanks in advance,
Jake

Way to go, Mumma. You have a beautiful family--and I'm glad you're bringing up more loyal Republicans and patriots to love our country.

The pix were great. I loved how there were hundreds of American flags at the rally. It sure seems obvious that those who support the President love Old Glory, whereas Kery backers mostly hate America.

Thanks a bunch. It's really important to us. My liberal sister-in-law says we've indoctrinated our kids pretty well, so I just had to use her words on the page... I just love my little Republicans ;-)

I get it.
You're asking a question, without using a question mark.
Tricky.

A group of us headed out about 8am in the morning for an almost 2 hour drive to make sure we would reach Bangor with plenty of time to get in line and get a good position. The "group" consisted of my mother, a cousin several friends and my lovely two daughters (11 and 12 yr olds). After reaching Bangor and grabbing a quick breakfast at McD's we headed over to the airfield to get in line. They were very organized and parked us quickly and efficiently. We were among the first dozen or 3 auto's to arrive. Once we headed towards the front of the line we had a long but enjoyable wait. We were very lucky to be among the first 20ish people in line. There was a humorous moment when after having dragged a dumpster over to where people were lined up, one of the college aged volunteers taped a sign on the front of the dumpster saying "protester entrance". (I have a cute picture of this but I'm not sure where I can upload it for people to view)

Finally around 12:30 they started letting people in. Again, we waited several hours but it was very enjoyable as the people were all very pleasant and my daughters had a nice picnic in the field we were lined up in.
Once in there we were fortunate to grab a great seat along the Truck bed that was set up towards the left of the podium. We were high enough up to see everything with nothing to block our view. My mother had a VIP ticket and was placed right up front of the podium. Unfortunately there were no seats up there but being almost 70 and filled with common sense she laid her jacket on the ground, warned everyone that she wouldn't be standing as she was to old to stand for 3 hours and sat herself down. =)
People were excited and everyone was in a great mood. A country western singer sang, he was wonderful (sorry can't remember his name as I don't usually do Country). The highschool band played, cheerleaders cheered. My 11 year old daughter couldn't stand to sit still and wait so she asked for my permission to help bring water around to everyone. Very proud of her, I said yes...and off she went to spend 3 hours walking around with trays full of water making sure people didnt dehydrate in the hot sun.
Anyhow, finally around 3:30, 3:45 my daughter came running over and said that she heard the security who were hanging out by the water table say that the president had arrived and would be coming on stage in a few minutes. She was so excited to be telling me this "secret" information!
President Bush came on stage with little introduction and the crowd went wild!

Okay, I have to log for minute. Will get to the important part when I return!

President campaigns in Bangor

Bush defends policyin Iraq, greets troops

BANGOR - As supporters on the tarmac at Bangor International Airport waved dozens of large red W's in the air Thursday, President Bush delivered a vigorous defense of his administration's policy in Iraq and told Mainers he needed their vote on Nov. 2.Speaking to a crowd that city police estimated at between 3,000 and 4,000 people, the president said the next election would determine how America would respond to terrorism. President Bush said the United States military has chased terrorists across the world "because the lives of our citizens are at stake."

"Our strategy is clear," he said. "We're defending the homeland, we're transforming our military and we're strengthening our intelligence services. We're staying on the offensive. We're striking the terrorists abroad, so we do not have to face them here at home."

The president's visit to Maine's 2nd Congressional District was the latest in a series of visits by high-profile administration figures in recent weeks that have included first lady Laura Bush and Chief of Staff Andrew Card. Republicans believe they can win at least one of Maine's four electoral votes in the 2nd District in a national election that some pundits predict could produce a razor-thin margin of victory.

The president emphasized Thursday that United States policy over the past four years has disrupted the world of Islamic terrorism by defeating the Taliban in Afghanistan, has secured a promise to renounce terrorism from Libya and has imposed new restrictions on the proliferation of nuclear weapons in Pakistan to create a safer world.

Bush said the administration's toughest decision was in Iraq where terrorists were harbored by Saddam Hussein, whom the president described as the "sworn enemy of America." Insisting Hussein was a "threat," the president said the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks made it clear that the United States had to take threats seriously "before they fully materialize."

Emphasizing that all options to find a peaceful resolution in Iraq had failed, the president said he had no choice but to take military action when Saddam Hussein refused to comply with U.S. demands that he abide by United Nations provisions and allow unfettered inspections of weapons facilities.

"Do I take the word of a madman and forget the lessons of September 11 or take action to defend this country?" he asked the crowd. "Given that choice I will defend America every time."

Troop deployments to Iraq show no sign of abating anytime soon, and even as the president was concluding his remarks at the airport, a plane carrying nearly 300 Army National Guard soldiers was on its way to BIA for a scheduled landing. When Bush heard that the plane was en route, he delayed the departure of Air Force One for five minutes so that he could personally see the troops off to their missions in Kuwait and Iraq.

During his victory rally speech on the tarmac, Bush pointed out that his Democratic opponent, Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kerry, also voted for the use of force in Iraq but failed to support $87 billion in supplemental funding earmarked for troops fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. The spending bill passed despite opposition from 12 U.S. senators.

"Only four U.S. senators voted to authorize the use of force and then voted against funding our troops - two of them were my opponent and his running mate," Bush said to a chorus of boos and hisses from the audience. "He said he actually did vote for the $87 billion before he voted against it. I don't think a lot of people speak that way in Bangor, Maine. He said it was a complicated matter, but there's nothing complicated about supporting our troops in combat."

Jesse Derris, chief spokesman for the Kerry campaign in Maine, said the president didn't answer any of the questions that Maine people had about another four-year term and that most Mainers "understand that it's time for a change."

"The point is he didn't come here to talk to those who had lost jobs, to families who have lost their health care or seniors who have to leave the country to buy affordable prescription drugs," Derris said. "All he did was offer the same tired rhetoric and the same ideas he has had for the past four years."

Promising there would be free elections in Iraq in January 2005, the president expressed frustration with the terrorist abductions and beheadings that make Americans' "hearts break."

"They're cold-blooded killers," Bush said. "These killers know Americans have a conscience and they don't. They're trying to shake our will. We're going to help this government in Iraq. The way to secure Iraq and bring our troops home is not to wilt, waver or send mixed signals to the enemy. We can grieve but we will not waver."

Bush blasted Kerry for stating this week that he would have preferred the leadership of Saddam Hussein to the situation in Iraq today. The president said the people of a new and free Iraq would not do the hard work to build their country if American leadership is going to tell them they were better off under a ruthless dictator.

"And what kind of message does it send to our troops who are risking their lives and who can see firsthand that the mission is hard?" he said. "Mixed signals are the wrong signals. I will continue to lead with clarity and when I say something, I'll mean what I say."

We were also on one of the trailers to the left of the stage. I wonder if we were sitting/standing near you? My kids got a bit bored with it at times & ended up playing on the grass behind the trailer.

Friday Update

President George Walker Bush visits Bangor.
Special report to Christian-news-in-maine from Maine's Freepers

Yesterday, the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush came to Maine.

If you have been watching to the Dan Rather wannabees on channel Thirteen or listening to the other Dan Rather Wannabees on WGAN, you might have gotten the impression that the visit was something short of a an absolutely rousing success. You might have gotten the opinion that the protesters were something other than a minuscule tiny minority of scared little wimps.

Today is a new day, today is the day of the internet, today you longer have to rely on the liars of the main stream press, the Dan Rathers of the world and their wannabee ilk at CBS affiliates like Channel Thirteen and CBS flunkies like WGAN.

No today you have real people doing real reporting from real events, thanks to the Internet, and the solid God fearing US Loving men and women that make up the Maine contingent of Freepers at FreeRepublic.com.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give to you the true picture of Presidents extremely successful visit to Maine yesterday, in their own words, Maine's Freepers:
I would like to point out to you that we did give the Dan Rather wannabees a chance to comment, but they, have chosen to ignore us, kind of like their idol Dan Rather does with the truth.

*******************

Now, Freepers, the paper is in your hands. The publisher is going to hang me if this gets out of hand. Hang me, not fire me, just hang me. What ever you guys post here is what ends up on the paper.

Thanks, (I think)

Jake

I thought you might have been nearby when you mentioned the two men with the sad, sad t's being right in front of you. We were on the other end of the truck bed. Sitting on the front ledge all the way down towards the entrance side.

You probably saw my daughter, she was the tall darked haired girl in the pink t-shirt and jeans handing out water. She's only 11 but could easily go for 14 because of her height.

I forgot to mention that we were interviewed by the NYT. I'm wondering if we'll be in the news...Although, it's not likely as I was very careful to not say anything that could be twisted negatively.

I noticed that the NYT did have a blurb about Bangor and said that there were 100's of attendees....well I'm sorry but there were way more then 100's.
In fact by 11 o'clock the line waiting to get in was probably in the 1,000's.

I was also surprised at the pathetic turnout of the protestors and also that there were no Pro-Kerry signs anywhere that I could see Just a lot of anti this, anti that, peace, peace, signs...
