[history]
Cool.
Mod update.
Ordinary Americans have dragged slowly but surely other big institutions to the truth. The big institutions were the last to arrive at the truth and some of them to this moment are still not there. Now I realize that within this new alternative media there exists some jealosy,. I sense that some people dont want to give the blogosphere the full credit. They have to parcel it out because every body wants a piece of the action; this is quite normal, this is human nature. The fact of the matter is that it was the blogosphere and it was a couple of sites: Powerline and FreeRepublic. And FreeRepublic has been one of the most impugned blogs / websites in the history of websites by the very institution that has been brought down.
When Dan Rather talked about partisan political operatives, he means those who lurk at FreeRepublic. Who is FreeRepublic, its ordinary Americans liberals look down at ordinary Americans, dont know have enough decision making power, [?] do the right thing, not smart enough
You dont know how much it grates on them at CBS that its something like FreeRepublic or one of their chat rooms or one of the FReepers there or the Powerline
you have no idea that it irritates them that that kind of person brought them down. An average, ordinary untrained journalist that
you just do not know how this irritates them inside. More than the fact that they got caught, its who caught them that irritates them.
And, so just as I started out
I was a fad, and I was a liar, and I made it up and I was bad for America and I posed threats to democracy, as the cover of Time said. So now the same things are being said about the bloggers. Fox news has had its turn and we all continue rotating in the criticism carousel of the left.

Rush made a small comment about rathergate being simular to watergate. There is much talk about his on local radio talk shows in houston. BTW: A clear channel station in Houston TX 950 KBRC was the only station in the nation to cut Dan Rather's news blast at the 4:00p top of the hour news and replace with FOX!!!!!!!

Welcome to FR.
Just don't call us "bloggers". We are FReepers -- and (very and justifiably) proud of the name... :-)

I've seem Pajahamedeen, and I've seen Pajamarazzi. I don't know which one I dislike more. I can understand someone ignorantly picking up "Pajamahadeen," but Pajamarazzi?? What the hell? Who in their right mind thinks comparing Freepers to vacuous human locusts is some kind of compliment?

I agree. I think Freepers should agree on a name. How about just...FREEPERS?
Works for me. : )

I am not personally worried about people being frightened away from FR. I think the vast majority of people who visit this site read the posts and commentary on the site for a while before registering. I am a long time lurker to this site, but only recently registered. My husband still just lurks, but we both have been reading the posts and discussions since long before Monica Lewinsky.
Many of us were so relieved when Rush came on the scene, because there was finally someone who was "speaking our language". Since that time there has been a momentum building for more accurate reporting. I think most of us stopped getting our news from the MSM a long time ago, and along with this trend came sites like Drudge, FR, and other Internet sites, and Fox News. Old Media is dying and has been for some time, at least with those of us who share a more conservative view. They will suffer a complete and total death unless they come to terms with the fact that we expect them to report the facts, and not to create or color the news with their left wing bias.

I believe a TIME story came out today with several mentions of FreeRepublic.
