Yah, I like Mike Steele a lot. His convention speech was great. Does the Lt. Governor have any real power in Md like he does in Georgia and Texas? Or is he just a bench warmer?
Either way, I hope Mike Steele can run for the Senate sometime. Even the House would be good if the Senate isn't realistic.
I can see Steele having a high position in the next Bush Administration ... his Lt. Govship ends in '06, so he become some Dept Secretary for two years, then run for the Senate. Sounds like a plan :) But what do I know, I live in Virginia !
Mike Steele is a leader for the future. I sure hope Bob Ehrlich can be reelected in '06, and maybe Steele will succeed him. Or if Steele can get elected to the Senate he will have a platform on which to run for president. Can you imagine the first African American president being a conservative Republican? You think the lefties have fits now over GWB. The anguish they have now would be nothing. I would give anything to see it! :)
Good golly, Miss Molly.
Bring me another pitcher of Natty Bo Hun, a half bushel of of large steamers, and plenty of Old Bay. This Republican is goin downie Ocean to celebrate!
Just saw a Rasmussen poll placing Kerry & Bush spread in single digits (4 or 5).
Landslide is a comin'!
Being right across the river, this is a nice surprise. But not totally surprising. I wonder what excuse the DU will have for this. If they even bother to mention it at all.
I agree. I am acting like we're behind.
Exceptions: ARG, Zogby's, and Smell, Fake, Ferry & Associates, et al...
Dear EDINVA,
Heck, we elected a Republican governor in 1994, too. Except for the dead voting in Baltimore City.

Holy JAMMIES!!! Better make my DC reservations for W's Inauguration celebrations, SOON!!! OK FOLKS, GOTTA CONTINUE TO WORK LIKE HECK AND PRAY, PRAY AND PRAY SOME MORE!!!!!HOOK'EM HORNS!!
Very interesting analysis, as usual.
52% military or vets among MD voters? That's almost as high as West Virginia!
If you do re-weigh for party affiliation, Kerry has a 10-12 point lead in Maryland.
If there is no rightleaning 3rd party spoiler (like Perot) and the Balto. rigor mortis turnout can be minimized, we might have a chance. Also, it would be great if Nader could somehow get in and steal away some of those Montgomery/Tacoma Park re-fried hippy votes.
Do you know what district he lives in? It seems that a House seat may be more realistic then a Senate seat. Of course, Senate would be better, but seeming as how it's so hard for an R to get elected statewide, especially to a federal post, I'd be happy with the House. He'd be a good house member, and he'd be a good spokesperson not only for black conservatives, but conservatives in general.
