If Bush pulls 15% of the African-American vote nation-wide this race is approaching Reagan-Carter territory.
St. Mary's County, home of Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Also, don't forget that Maryland felt the immediate impact of the September 11th terrorist attacks, with several local people killed at the Pentagon. A lot of Marylanders work in the DC area and are aware of the extra security, etc. National defense and security are on the minds of Marylanders. As such, W is their man.
Just my two cents.
You just described Kentucky about 6-10 years ago. Here is hoping Maryland succeeds the way Kentucky did.
