According to the CBS News web site, tonight's CBS Evening News will address the latest developments in Rathergate.

Yeah, a "newbie" who is already popular, requires no introduction or major campaign, is understood and hailed as a hero(ine) by the the rat masses... now who could that possibly be?
I've read some of his columns, but don't think I've seen Shales in action before. Is he the worst, wimpiest, most liberal media Kool-Aid drinker you've ever seen?
From me, one more time: On tonight's broadcast, Rather said "we went to Burkett, he did not come to us". That clearly means it was Mary Mapes who approached Burkett and asked him, "pressured him" for the documents she had obviously heard about. CBS is not disclosing who put Mapes onto Burkett's trail, but my guess is she got her tip from Max Cleland.
And contrary to what Dan Rather said on tonight's broadcast, there are no original documents for him to find.
Yo! this afternoon as Rush ended, I listened to ABC Radio news, 3 pm EST. The female newsreader said, (almost a quote): Today AP asked Max Cleland about the forged documents, and Cleland said he could not take questions without first going through the Kerry campaign hqs. I don't think that implies guilt on the part of the Kerry campaign, but it surely does show what a short leash they keep Max on. They must have issued the order after he stupidly talked to a reporter over the week-end, disclosing that he had spoken to Burkett by cell telephone back in August.
I think it's hard to know at this point whether Burkett is protecting his source for the documents, or he created the documents, doesn't want to risk being prosecuted for forging government documents, so he lies and said someone gave the documents to him. Hard too, to know if CBS is playing like they actually believe Burkett has an original source because they want toprotect Max Cleland, or they don't want to have to admit they were so eager to hurt Bush that they trusted documents they got from a a red flag like Burkett.
And for the record..Dorothy Rabinowitz is making fools outta Tom Shales, Chris Matthews, and David Gergen! She's got more brains in her little toe than they have in their 3 big heads.

Did you hear that stupid Tom Shales from The Washington Post? He was insinuating that the Bush Administration planted this story and that Rather wouldn't lie but George W. Bush WOULD! Man, my blood pressure is up!
Oh, thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only one (briefly) watching that idiot Tom Shales. I really dislike personal comments about appearance, but his kindred-spiritness to Michael Moore is just too strong to be ignored.

Question-who on earth is this idiot Tom Shale I just saw on MSNBC? Other than what my eyes can see,that he's a blob of lard with a mouth that opens to lie. Oh my God,is he on drugs or something??? He just flatly stated that "Bush lies and Dan Rather doesn't" or something like that. He looks like the human version of rotten egg salad or something,completely gross and disgusting,and so arrogantly deceitfully partisan,to say the least,that I can't believe that he writes for a so-called MS newspaper!
I don't know about the terminology but a freeper posted a Kerry document side by side with a legitimate Bush document yesterday and the formating was the same. I'd like to know what the Texas Army Guard formatting was like. Mrs PD

they're very unlikeable "scumbags" as teresa heinz likes to say...personally, I wouldn't have used that term, but since she is a very fashionable, intelligent, multilingual person (she can say 'scumbag' in 5 diufferent languages!), well, I guess just this once I could call Damned Rather and Burkett (and Teresa) scumbags.
changing an election based on fraud is enough of a motive/gain for me.
I think Burkett told them to authenticate the docs to try and get him out of being a co-conspirator..WHO and WHEN did he get the documents from? CBS still has not ansered either of those two questions.. Burkett said the first source was in the Guard,- so if the docs were supposedly destroyed WHEN were they obtained and where have they been all this time, Did VCBS vett the original source Burkett gave4 them? Was he unimpeachable? How could he be? if he really didn't give the docs to Burkett?
