According to the CBS News web site, tonight's CBS Evening News will address the latest developments in Rathergate.
Let's pile on.
Courtesan David Gergen seconding Rabinowitz's statement: this has more to do with Rather's desire to break big stories than any bias against Bush. Yeah, right.
Regardless of their political beliefs, the overwhelming majority of the electorate doesn't like cheating. Period. Only DNC hacks think it okay to cheat to win. Joe and Jane Sixpack don't care for it one bit. If this gets back to Kerry, he's finished, and he may take the entire DNC machine down with him.
Rabinowitz now claiming Rather would have run with the same story if it had been about Kerry. Sure.
There was an article posted a couple of weeks ago about how that points program worked and GWB's accumulations, but it got pulled without explanation.
It was a good, informative article.
Other than that pulled article, I have yet to see any other article that explains the points or shows the accumulations. Some news-talk and posts have made reference to the points system.
Seems to me that, at this point, PMSNBC (Chris Matthews) is going after this story harder than Fox is.
CBS have been working on this story for five years. During that time they probably came in contact with Burkett, who has been essentially saying (for the last five years) that Bush was AWOL and he, Burkett saw Bush's aides destroy TANG documents. Burkett was probably badgering CBS to run with the story and their response was, find us some hard evidence such as memos and we'll run with the story. Hence both Rather and Burkett can claim CBS pressured him for the docs. Both CBS and Burkett admit some culpability, but get to play the victim. The problem is they can't identify the victimizer or their flimsy story will be further discredited. My guess is that they will try to pin the blame on a fictitious Republican source. Watch your back Buckhead.
Washington Post media critic Tom Shales is the absolute worst. He's saying Rather is justified in being biased against Bush, because 41 was mean to him.
As an unfortunate aside, Shales looks as if he's been taking estrogen replacement therapy.

Great article up top from a fellow AF officer, but in the addendum is an excellent point-by-point refutation of all the allegations against Lt Bush in TANG. Well worth the read but too long to post.

What's interesting is that Byron York said that Dubya was full-time active duty for the first two years of his service while he went through flight training. Looks like Dubya spent more time active duty than 'Nam hero Kerry.
Now Shales is saying "I don't think Rather lied; I think Bush would."
I was thinking the same thing. Ain't that ironic?!
Shales blames "the system," rather than Rather, but "worth the risk." And that Rather "DIDN'T Lie"!! Fat POS.
Rabinowitz thinks Rather would have broken the same kind of story were is Kerry (yeah, right!)
Gergen's lesson to Rather and CBS: "get it first, but get it right." Wondering how "professionals" (not talking about Rather) don't get it right.
These three were a joke!
Tom Shales from the Washington Post is already saying he thinks it was a Republican. He is on with Chris Matthews right now saying that.
I do daily...I've got 3 family members in the US Military...all Army all have been in Iraq.
Tom Shales looks like Michael Moore with a shave and a shower.
LOL!
done.
Yes, looks like we're back to the "good Chris, bad Chris" days!
Hi!
Now that the Bloggers and the Kerry Spot has shown their powers, can't they verify if indeed Kerry visited a Botox clinic or whatever to administer Botox to his forehead?
The obvious reason that calls for such a revelation is that Kerry has 'sworn' that he has NOT HEARD OF BOTOX, and like Monica, it shows a pattern of leis and the inability to say the rtuth even on such simple non-damaging issues as Botox.
