Blogger Who Faulted CBS Documents Is Conservative Activist (L.A Times RATS out Buckhead!)
L.A Times ^

WASHINGTON — It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service — a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.

But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country." Semper Fi 1stSgt Dave Jobe

The DU has been working on this for a while and there are some reporters that use the DU researchers for their writing, they give hints that they pick up from other reporters and work together. They have read every post that Buckhead ever made on FreeRepublic and determined that he went to UGA and Brown, they know that he has worked for Newt Gingrich and other Republican groups. Oh, and that he is a lawyer, probably from Atlanta.

Howlin told me that he does not live in Georgia, though. So, that's weird.

Buckhead should be on O'reilly.
But ofcourse he will want to talk about Mistress Laura Ingraham.

So Buckhead is outed as a conservative Republican. Wow, L.A. Times, that's some feat of investigative journalism. Who would've guessed you'd find conservative Republicans on Free Republic.

Geesh, this may compete with the 60 Minutes memogate as the non-story of the year.

Like I've said before it doesn't matter if Karl Rove wrote the memos.

Bingo. Let's suppose Karl Rove (in Bizarro world) comes out and says, "Yeah, I wrote them, and I faxed them."

Does that do anything to exonerate Dan Rather and CBS? Not in the least.

Moron who (probably) forged document is Democrat
CBS Producer Mapes is an extreme feminist activist who has an agenda...
her own father dissed her on radio in Seattle, saying when Memogate broke, he
suspected his daughter might be involved! LOL!

"'Harry is a very strong conservative and a very passionate conservative so if he sees something that looks fishy, he's going to say something about it,' said Lynn Hogue, a Georgia State University law professor and former executive director of the Southeastern Legal Foundation.

"'When he's not absorbed with work, I think he spends the rest of his life in the wee hours of the morning on freerepublic,' Hogue added. 'And that's the outlet through which he shares his concerns and insights, and so rather than being a matter of conspiracy, it's just him doing what he does.'"

AWESOME......

Buckhead just catapulted to the near top of FreeRepublic.

Not that there's anything insidious or emminently dangerous about Buckhead's real identity being revealed, it is a little unnerving, and I believe probably a willful attempt on the part of the LA Times to intimidate him and possibly cause him career repercussions by 'outing' him.

The LA Times, as a representative of the old media, seems to be sending out the message that they don't like anyone looking over their shoulder, and they intend to harm you if you do. Got the message?

Jim, I understand that posts can be pieced together, as they are public... can I fairly assume that private e-mails, sent to other FReepers, are SOLELY available to the intended party (unless of course they decide to disseminate those e-mails to others)...

Is there any scenario where you or someone on your team would give this information out to anyone?

Thanks

The LATimes is hilarious. As if there aren't enough geeks on Free Republic to explain how someone would get intense about typeface in the middle of the night.

I love, too, how they present CBS's typewriter repairman as a technical expert, and how they claim that CBS's story "only" ran out of steam when the former secretary came forward.

Pravda, LA style.
