WASHINGTON It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.
But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

Oh really? Someone who posts on Free Republic is a conservative activist? WOW!
I can't believe the majority of the MSM is saying "the documents are fake but the accusation of Bush's service is true". !!!???
So we know it's true, we just don't have the actual evidence to prove it? In that case, I want the police to arrest my neighbor for dealing heroin to children. I don't actually have any evidence but my point is accurate.
????!!!! The MSM is going down....
Adolf Hitler believed that two plus two equals four...
TWO PLUS TWO, THEREOFORE, CANNOT EQUAL FOUR!!!!!!!!
And their point is ???????????????
He's an American hero
I have come to believe "journalists", (as they deign to call themselves), are the most ignorant people on earth. They may know how to use the language, but they have absolutely no real-world knowledge about ANYTHING! I have therefore concluded their trade really is -- Ignorance.
I worked in the printing industry as an accountant for about six years and I learned more about fonts just passing through the work areas than all the experts at CBS have learned in a lifetime. I was able to spot those memos as frauds immediately, and I would hardly qualify as as a font expert.
bttt
Every poster on FR can properly be termed a "conservative activist".
A badge of honor for MacDougald. A patriot who brought down a communist candidate.
I haven't read this thread, but how does the LA times know this is Buckhead? How many times have we speculated on a person's identity only to find out we were wrong? Now, I'll read the posts.
I've been online since 1984 on Fidonet.
I can't imagine what folks could dig up on me given enough motivation.
I've had this particular moniker since about 2000, I'm also known as Malbor since early 1997 as well as, Mal, and any number of other names long before that. My suggestion is simply just that. A suggestion. Why give ammo to the leftists?
Any UNC Tarheel alums out there in the Pajamasphere tonight? If someone has a password, they can log on the Alumni site and check out Mr. Wallsten's bio and notes . . . he was Chief Editor of The Daily Tar Heel . . .
They are. Jim will never reveal identies of posters. Only he knows, and then, it's only email and IP addresses. The stuff you give when you register. The mods don't have this info. They are speculating and trying to get us to reveal additional info. They are grasping at straws. We don't know if this is our buckhead.
If they would spend that much effort in coming up with a vision for America, for handling terrorism they just might have had a candidate to run the race.
But, no, too busy with subversive plots, laying traps, manipulating the mind of the masses. Whew - sure takes it out of you doesn't it?
I recall that some McDonalds were fierce early Scots on the Isle of Skye -
Not that far from Dunvegan Castle -
Buckhead won the day -
Off topic I recall that LAT poll that oversampled dems by 18% :

Finding out id from reviewing clues in posts.....
We can solve that easily. We lie, lie, lie and every now and then throw in the truth - in other words - act democratic. Let them spin their wheels tracking down the ids of people in the U.S. They sure can't do any reporting.
Wonder if this was from the same paper complaining about Ashcroft and the Patriot Act and abuse of civil rights.
PS, I know not all lawyers are scumbags. You know a few bad apples......
What would happen if we all just changed nicknames every 6 months?
Would be hard on the site but that may be what has to be done for id protection.
Shhhh...Dan "Whats the Frequency" Rather might hear you....
