WASHINGTON It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.
But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

I thought this story was broken by a Karl Rove in pajamas? Guess not.
To Dan Rather-CBS-LA Times-& Old Media
Your days are o-v-e-r.
Try to destroy this man, you'll regret it. Fair warning since you seem incapable of common sense.
The people that post here ARE conservatives. Unlike the professional "activists" that spend their lives from picket line to picket line, we have jobs. Some are (shockingly) lawyers! I know this hurts your prejudice about conservatives on these forums but time to face reality.
The story is that Rather & CBS put forth forged documents to attempt to destroy a sitting President. There are signs that the DNC is involved. Have you looked into this? No. That is why your days are numbered. Because you are going to attempt to destroy someone not affiliated with the W.H. An ordinary citizen with the common sense to notice the fraud attempted against the American people.
Remember what happened when you tried to slime Arnold days before his election?
Imagine tenfold if you go after a private citizen.
I know there is no "if", you will. And your empire will crumble in the aftermath.
Just understand, "Buckhead" has friends that aren't going to leave him to suffer your wounded rage, and they aren't in the W.H.
Strategy ideas?
<sarcasm>First, we wait to find out which liberal will be given the prize.
Then, we stake out his/her house . . . </sarcasm>
I really consider it bad form to bring one's self into an argument. Nothing you say is confirmable anyway. Ad Hominem to bolster one's argument is as invalid as ad hominen against someone. I know you can read back through my two years here and find out that I am conservative and against Islam and that's about it. Good thing Buckhead apparently didn't say anything against Islam! (That's what got "Unfit for Command" co-author and outed FReeper Corsi in trouble.)
"It's great to see conservatives taking the gloves off and firing back. It was so dispiriting in past elections to see our side flail away and go meekly into the night"
Don't kid yourself. Freepers played a major role in keeping the 2000 election from being stolen from the rightful winner. The storming of the Dade County election commission "closed" meeting was by Freepers. That was as much responsible for the victory by W as anything
Geniuses!
The LA Slimes forgot to announce what kind of toilet paper Buckhead uses.
I'm outraged! And I just pray Buckhead can find a way to sue the crap out of those goons!
Amazing how these leftists only believe in 'the right to privacy' when it means being free to rip a tiny defenseless baby to shreds.
I wonder what their first clue was that Buckhead is a conservative activist. Could it be because he's posting here at FR? You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out. Inspector Clouseau could have also reached the same conclusion.
Thanks, as I said, no offense intended. I am also a Mod on another board, so I know how the game is played. I saw you making a statement (about), rather than a question to (the owner of this board).....about how "boards" work. Which is why I gave both you and him (via the ping) the opportunity to respond. You both did. Again, thanks! We have achieved clarity.
>>Then, we stake out his/her house<<
Just like the socialists and anarchists who are dogging Republicans this year. Hmmmm.... There may be a pattern here. LA Slimes is just following their comrades' antics!
Facts are facts! Continue to attack some WWW poster for his partisanship and being first to show what is well known knowledge about fonts and spacing, and you will continue burying yourself along with the other proven biased "old" media. I'm sure CBS will soon have a "Help Wanted" sign in their window - take note.
Here's MY personal info if you want to investigate my predilections. Keep it up, LA Times. You're heading towards subscription loss and possible lawsuits.

I would not think that they would be knocking on his door, because who he is does not effect the story. Everyone already knows that conservatives found the error. Who he is does not change that.
CBS is going down. We know where the memo was faxed from for God's sake!
Great Idea,I bet it would really bring in the ratings.
The LA Times obviously is the Dr. Watson....stating the obvious, on this "breaking" news!
Just when you thought Buckhead's 15 minutes of fame had reached its zenith, the LAT goes and moves him up a quantum in our estimation. This just keeps getting better and better! Buckhead r0x0r!
