Kerry says Vice President Cheney profited from Iraq war (Barf Alert!)

WASHINGTON (AFP) - John Kerry (news - web sites)'s Democratic election campaign accused Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) of making money from the Iraq (news - web sites) war through his links to the Halliburton company, in a new television advertisement.

The spot, which will be shown in states where Kerry is in the tightest race with President George W. Bush (news - web sites), shows Cheney saying in 2003: "I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had now for over three years."

Cheney gave up his job running the Texas-based oil services and general contracting giant to join the Bush campaign in 2000. But since saying he had no links to Halliburton, Cheney has admitted he was still receiving pension payments.

Kerry's advert goes on: "The truth: As vice president, Dick Cheney, received two million dollars from Halliburton. Halliburton got billions in no bid contracts in Iraq.

"Dick Cheney got two million dollars. What did we get? A 200 billion dollar bill for Iraq."

The Kerry campaign has launched a series of aggressive new television adverts since Bush pulled ahead in opinion poll ratings during September.

Pathetic on so many levels...

Yup!

Kind of like the "campaign finance reform" that was foisted on the public this last go-around. ;-)

Series. I thought that Teresa has financial interests in Haliburton as well as other companies with plump govt. contracts? Her investments are so diverse and in so many pots that if kerry was elected, the independent financial officer that would assigned their finances would be completely overwhelmed and probably suicidal.

This man (to use the term loosely) has got to be the most unimaginative, condiscending dolt on the face of the planet.

He is a stupid mean Chauncy Gardner.

We can solve this whole problem by giving all contracts, that have anything to do with this or any other war, only to businesses in France. Then everyone in the whole world will love us again. Yay!

Amazing. John Kerry can't campaign on himself, he has to campaign on his competition.

Kerry's wife profited from the war by selling condiments to MRE packagers.

Cheney has admitted he was still receiving pension payments

I don't believe Kerry will get much mileage out of attacking a corporate retirement plan (pension/401k) unless the money vanishes like with Enron.

kERRY Profited from the suffering he and his communist cohorts caused on American POW's in Honi. If the Kgb really funded Fonda-Kerry they profited even more. Kerry profited from deceit in Vietnam form medals and unearned valor. Kerry owes us some prison time!

Pathetic! They have a bunch of kids running their campaign. I can't wait to hear what Pat Caddell has to say about this. He was Pres. Carters' pollster and has been on the talking heads shows berating the Kerry campaign about these types of low level tactics.

I bet Michael Moore is now heading their campaign.

On another note. Did you notice that President Bush is in NC today at a fundraiser? He is not out campaigning! My guess is he already has started spending his "capital" on helping the sentate candidates!

Is this charge true? I thought as President and VP, they had to put all assets in a blind trust.

Most retirees still receive pension payments. That's the way pensions work.

Kerry knows this. He's so desperate for an issue, any issue to stick!

"Cheney has admitted he was still receiving pension payments." Kerry said.

Don't most people get pension payments when they retire? /sarcasm.

Lurch doesn't even go to work, and we're paying the dope $200,000 a year.

Unlike Lurch, Cheney's balance sheet is in the black, probably by about 20m. Lurch had to marry two wealthy women to give him an allowance. This guy is so pathetic, I have to go to another thread before I go nuts.

And Kerry's 'Deputy Dawg' profited from
lawsuits based on junk science.

Kerry is very much like Gore in that they both believed their entire adult lives that they were destined to be President of the United States. I hope these remaining weeks are painful for him. No amount of pain though will make up for what he did to our men in Vietnam when he got back from there (hey...did anybody know Kerry was in Nam?).

The man has no vision of his own. He attacks The President, he attacks Cheney (who is one of the finest men in the United States). He says nothing about his plans because he doesn't have any...at least none he can admit to. John Kerry is pathetic.
