It coulda happened to me, one time,at a GORE event, but for the fact that t.v. cameras were aimed at me, they were prolly concerned about being on t.v. in a bad light. The union leader ,WEARING A HAT, came walking near me real fast, so I leaned back and kinda scrounged down and yelled don't put THAT hat on me"! And they backed off!

I took my kids with me to the Great TN Pitchfork Tax Revolt a couple of years back. That event DID get a little intense (but not quite out of control). My kids, to this day, say it's one of their best memories. Even now, when they see a political sign, they start chanting "No new Taxes!" . They were 4 and 5 at the time.

Anyway, my wife was there, too, so if there was any danger she would have grabbed the children and gotten them out of there.

I was as angry as anyone about this. But then I started hearing that this guy is a "professional" victim. A man was on the Phil Valentine show this morning saying that he was at the rally. He sounded beliveable and said that this guy was being really obnoxious, was told four or five times to settle down: he and his children were poking people with their signs to the point that their sign was "taken away"; NOT ripped from their hands. Valentine is so full of hatred of the unions that he would not even listen to his caller. I am insensed by children being hurt as anyone, but the bad guy here MAY be the Dad to this poor girl.

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues.

What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.

I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the full extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.

Uh. Did I say anything about forged documents? I'm only saying what is floating around. That's the thing about Republicans and Democrats: they are so close-minded and so sure that the "other guy" is the villian that they have no interest in finding out the truth. I see how the government can make zombies which never think to question it. Don't you find it odd that this guy has been "attacked" like 3 times before (and had his name in the spot-light)? A person attacked this many times before is just "quietly" standing there this time, holding up his sign? And this guy who called (the bystander) in knew it was hopeless to tell his side of the story: Valentine was just like some people here: blindly hating all who are members of unions. Everyone in a union is a villian. Sound familiar? Like those racist bigots or those who hated anyone Japanese in WW2. In any event, the little girl IS the victim here: from a punk Kerry supporter, or, even worse, from her own father.
