Its seems odd that country proclaiming a commitment to Freedom supports the closure of the only real free press in most of the middle east - Al Jazeera. Even Alister Campbell aplogist for the UK governement and a supporter of muting the TV station during the invasion of Iraq now agrees how important the station is to free speech.

So all of you neo-cons with your spin on Freedom for the Iraqi people how about letting them watch what ever TV station they wish to switch on. And let Al Jazeera report from Iraqi what has an emerging democracy ocuupied by freedom loving democracies got to fear from free sppech

There is nothing "Free" about any medium, private or state-controlled that would routinely and in inflammatory language report any retribution to muslims, while never mentioning or showing the atrocities that those same "peaceloving muslims" commit (body parts, destroyed buildings, bodies of children...)

There is truly "free" medium and then there is the other kind. For reference, I consider neither the SeeBS network nor the New York Times "free".
