Kelley Wright just reported that CBS is expected to make a statement this morning regarding the documents!
Will this interview appear on his news show or on 60 Minutes tonight?
They are ecstatic, because they are sure that this will allow Rather to ignore questions about the documents themselves, and to concentrate on the charges instead
The DUmmies are in a desperation mode over the forgeries and are now grasping at straws. Some are saying if they are forgeries then it was a KARL ROVE plot.
I think they may say something like that....
AND THEN...point out the Secretary from the Guard...
GIVING UNSUBSTANTIATED claims that the content was the same as what she had seen.
EVEN THOUGH...according to the Houston Chronicle....she said last week...that she had no first hand knowledge of anything like that.
I just can't believe that Rather is as stupid as everyone around here seems to think. I suspect he has something up his sleeve which will attempt to make us "people in pajamas" look like wackos.
The memos may be transcriptions of real memos, or they may be just pure fabrications based on somebody's "recollection".
Regardless, I still think SeeBS will claim they did it to protect their source.
An e-mail.
Well, that is par for them....
If they stand by their story...they know they can't go on air and keep a straight face.
If the retract.....they don't want answer reporter's question.
Cowards Buy Stories - CBS
Every media person I've seen seems to be trying to give rather a pass on his involvement in this scam. They seem to think he is an innocent bystander.
Standing firm on quick sand!
I don't know what you mean by what we want. All I want is the truth. The truth is very obvious. Dan Rather and CBS are a joke they have 2 choices bury themselves deeper in their own mound of lies and incompetance (true they have several ways of doig this, but it all makes them look like idiots.) or admit the truth.
LOL. I don't believe it is a news conference. It is a "printed" statement.
I'm excited and edgy too. These events are bizarre, precedent setting, and in many aspects, appear to be irrational. There is a paradigm shift underway in the MSM.
Your conspiracy theory makes no sense. For days now they have been trotting expert after expert out to authenticate the documents in question. THis has only served to damage CBS' credibility. If Rather has had the real documents up his sleave the entire time there is no way he would have stuck his neck out to defend the fake ones. That would have been just plain STUPID.
If he wanted to pull a rope-a-dope, he would have stalled and denied the charges, but he would not have pulled out "experts" to authenticate docs he knew to be fake.
I think you guys are getting WAY too paranoid here. One of the hallmarks of paranoia is a belief in the omniscience and omnipotence of your opponents. CBS is neither. They've been caught in a lie and are now trying to spin their way out of it.
He is quite elderly I believe; the
sec. to Killian is 86, for crying out loud.
Poor choice of words...truth of course. But a resignation because of a breach of trust is what I want. (A dollar and a dream)
Yes, your additions are very likely, despite the problems you cite. SeeBS: have truer words ever been spoken?
CBS BUILDING NEW YORK, NY MEMORANDUM FROM: Dan Rather TO: ALL RE: It has come to our attention that certain individuals wearing pajamas have questioned the quality of our reporting. For crying out loud! Who are you going to believe? Us? Or ten thousand misfits in their pajamas? This seems like a no-brainer to us. We're CBS and you should know better than to doubt us. Signed, |
Hmmm... Looks pretty authentic to me.
Texas Speaker Reportedly Helped Bush Get Into Guard
Tuesday, September 21, 1999
excerpt:
Staudt said in an interview that he knew Adger, but that Adger never mentioned Bush to him. Bush has said that he met Staudt in late 1967, during Christmas vacation of his senior year at Yale, called him later, and by Bush's account, "found out what it took to apply."
~snip~
Did the reporter play audio or video of that....or is that just the reporter's description.
Trust no reporter. I have spent quite a bit of time in NB, Texas. He has a rep as an honorable man.
Our opinions diverge on the wisdom of making this a Congressional matter, and I've expressed my thoughts in other threads. We may see Congressional hearings, and the outcome will speak for itself.
As for my use of the word "defensive," it is n't necessary to characterize the nature of the reaction. If a reaction is what CBS wanted, the CBS is getting what it wanted. The story stays hot. The allegations stay hot. If for no reason other than the bizarro effect.
As I noted earlier, USA Today received the same memos plus two typed in the same manner independently from CBS or the WH.
Same typing.
