So. What is the most absolutely desperate move CBS could make in an attempt to defend its now widely-discredited memos?
How about accusing the forensic document examiners that doubt the veracity of the memos of being agents of the Republican Party?
Just heard from a very reliable source that CBS is looking into the political donations of document examiner Sandra Ramsey Lines, fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, who assessed the memos for CNN and for the Associated Press.
Did some digging myself, and found in a database maintained by the Center for Public Integrity, a campaign finance watchdog group, Lines has donated a little under $600 to the WISH List, a fundraising organization for Republican women candidates.
Ah. Well, she must be lying, then. (eye roll)
(Keep in mind that Ben Barnes, the central figure in Rathers report, has raised more than a half million dollars for Kerrys campaign.)
All of the document examiners consulted by the mainstream media who say the documents look like fakes are putting their partisan allegiance to the GOP over their professionalism? Every last one of them?
I had heard, from some folks claiming to be in the know, that some producers at CBS had gone... a little over the edge as a result of this story, quoting Michael Moore at length and putting tremendous faith in the most far-fetched of conspiracy theories. I had dismissed these reports as exaggerations. I mean, network news producers don't just go nuts.
In light of this... maybe they do.

BEAUTIFUL!!!
Nice to see Kerry has reduced himself to a farce.
If anyone wants a chuckle they should see that!
Welllllllllllll, technically,
it IS impossible for the network biggies to
GO
nuts.
Hard to GO
somewhere you've been living at, for decades.
Guess just more overt evidence is starting to surface. But the 'trip' to the funny farm took place a long time ago!

[Or Robin can drop a dime and have her Dad help "change public behavior..."]
If Dan the Man keeps digging, he's gonna wind up in China as per my childhood understanding. LOL
Dan Milhous Nixon continues to dig.
Priceless.
This is a road CBS had better not go down. It's going to be very hard to them to continue making the pretense of objective reporting when the entire Republican Party launches a permanent boycott of their entire network news division.
SAVE BUCKHEAD
We just can't make this stuff up! And they don't even see the irony. Dan the Man is probably hoping it'll go to The Cold Case Files......be "solved" after he's gone far, far away.
It's too late now. They are too heavily invested.
I'm really enjoying this.
DU'ers were just looking at that themselves two days ago.... anyone think those rabid monkeys know how to look up CBS's email address?
Did you notice that the auction has received two bids that the seller has cancelled? One bid from "karl rove," and another from "CBS New." I got a chuckle out of that ....
A few minutes ago, Brit Hume said the secretary who typed all Killian's office work during those years says the docs are almost certainly fakes. But she thinks the contents reflect sentiment she heard around that time. So the next line of defense has already been laid down. Forget that they're forged and fake, if Killian had been able to type, using a PC, he'd have typed this up in a NY minute. Unbelievable.
Sounds like someone is going to get rich on this. Nothing like sitting on criminally forged military documents and trying to destroy the careers of document experts.
Ah yes, CBS. Complete Bovine Scat
They dusted him off for a senate run in Minnesota IIRC.
