AP backs the story even though they don't know this guy's name because the reporter "trusts" him after a phone interview??? I guess AP doesn't care how stupid it looks.

"I really trust this guy," he said. "I believe he's a real straight shooter."Minor says Majied didn't give him his previous name, "and I didn't press the matter."
Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Now, that's some GOOD journalism. Just like the old profs at J-school used to teach.

Minor says Majied didn't give him his previous name, "and I didn't press the matter." A real investigative journalist would have asked the question and then tried to authenticate the name. Minor was obviously afraid of the answer, so he didn't ask.

"In an interview with WorldNetDaily, however, Minor says he has no reason to disbelieve Majied's story."
Well, that's nice. Now, to clear any misunderstanding up completely, what was the guys name prior to his conversion.
That would be the simplest route to ascertaining the truth, wouldn't it?
Or could it be that he refuses to give his original name because, gasp, it wouldn't be listed on the official Seal roster?

Well, there you have it--the reporter "feels" that he was told the truth. No facts necessary when the feelin's right.

Ah, I forgot The "Seems like a nice guy over the phone" Rule.
As long as you are polite to a reporter on the phone, everything you say is true and there is no need to check your sources.
The utter lack of professionalism tolerated by the Old Media never ceases to amaze me.

Minor says Majied homeschools his seven children. "These are really upstanding people," he told WND. Oh, please!!! If he came by my house, where we're Christians homeschooling seven children, the story would be about how we're a Threat To The American Way Of Life because our children are being "indoctrinated" in our "exclusive" religious beliefs, instead of learning to be "inclusive" and "nonjudgmental" in the public schools. (/rant)
