A commentator on Tim Blair's site brought it up in regards to the nation "story" on the airforce/guard ad by David Corn.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN SEPT 12, 2004 19:02:38 ET XXXXX

DNC TO LAUNCH FRESH ATTACK ON BUSH GUARD DUTY: WILL RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT 1978 CAMPAIGN LIT

**Exclusive**

Faster than a CBS eye can blink, dogged Dems are set to take to the airwaves anew hoping to keep questions about President Bush's National Guard duty in play, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Candidate Kerry apparently has rejected former President Clinton's advice not to get further locked in a 2004 Vietnam quagmire.

"George W. Bush's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Air Force.' The only problem? He didn't," slams a new DNC press release set for distribution.

Dems will attempt to increase the heat on Bush ahead of his planned Tuesday address before The National Guard Association gathering in Las Vegas.

In 2000, Bush opened his National Guard Association speech: "General, I am reporting for duty."

MORE

Kerry plans to speak to the group on Thursday, but he personally hold back questioning Bush's service, sources explain.

The coordinated nationwide effort this week by the DNC has been code-named "Operation Fortunate Son."

"George Bush has a clear pattern of lying about his military service," DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera blasts in the new release. "From 1978 to the present day, George Bush has refused to tell voters the truth about his service. It's time for the President to come clean."

"Flyers distributed to Texas voters during Bush's failed Congressional race say 'he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard.' But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force."

Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense! Why would a Wookiee - an eight foot tall Wookiee - want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

What does that have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

None of this makes sense.

If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

How shrewd of the DNC to do this the same week Kerry goes to speak to the National Guard Assn.

The Dems dragged out a 1978 campaign flyer from Bush stating that he was a member of the Air Force - saying that he was not, he was a reserve member.

This refutes that and shows that the Air Force considers the Reserve Active Duty Members. Just Debunking more Dem crap...

This 'new' strategy by the DNC is almost too good to be true. Terry McAwful must be getting directions directly from Karl Rove.

I think the Kerry campaign is off the hook with the way they're running this stuff. I hope the National Guardsman turn their backs on him when he shows up. Better yet, uninvite him.

I think what he's saying is that the Air Force Personnel Center apparently has a web site that includes the definition of the term "Air Force." That definition includes the ANG. So the Dems are basically getting wrapped around the axle on semantics despite USAF's own terminology.

Try this link: http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/sascasstats/Help/FAQ.asp#Definitions

IMHO It's kinda early to whip out the Chewbacca defense isn't it?

If Bush can't say he was active air force, then Kerry shouldn't say he was a swift boat captain. After all, Bush was in the air force longer than Kerry was a swift boat captain.

1. ANG is a part of the USAF
2. When in basic training at Lackland and during the entire technical training (in this case 2 yrs of flight training) you are technically mobilized and on "active duty in the USAF." Your chain of command at this time is USAF not ANG. Same thing happens if your unit gets mobilized, your chain of command shifts from the governor of your state to the presidential chain of command and you become active duty Air Force period.

By this logic. isn't Kerry lying when he says he was in the Navy and not the Naval Reserves?

This is the work of the Clintonistas. It follows from: the definition of "is", oral sex is not sex, etc. Only this time they are torturing the English language for attack not defense.

Oh, PLEASE! I was US Naval Reserve for over twenty years. That included two tours in Vietnam and making every single qualification and duty assignment as the regular US Navy, plus do every type of duty as USN. Only real difference: my pension is 1/4 that of my USN counterpart.

Only a Liberal Dweeb would think ANG ans USAF duty was different.
