What a Novemer it would be if we picked up 4-5 senate seats as well as kept the WH.

I love that picture - not only because he looks so dejected, but if you notice, the flag is almost dragging the ground so when he was photgraphed standing next to it he would look taller.

Is there a snowball's chance in Hades that Bowles will lose in NC?

I think Burr will win it. The race has been almost all positive so far. Burr has started to go heavy on TV, and Bush is coming to Charlotte next? week to campaign with him. Burr's biggest problem is that the race hasn't generated much interest yet.

Bush-Cheney04 is spending $$$ to GOTV in NC, so that'll give Burr an extra ~~+2%.

"Bowles will win NC likely."

I don't see it, but maybe you know something I don't.

I don't even know who's up in 2006 except Jim Talent in MO. Unfortunately, Talent in '06 may be going against Robin Carnahan, whose mother he beat in '02. She is the "happy" ("unmarried") daughter of Mel Carnahan, whose political savvy was so great he was able to win an election from the other side of the earthly veil. Currently, Robin is running for Secretary of State in MO and will probably win due to the power of name recognition. With her as Secretary of State, Missouri will again see the dead vote (probably even her dad), dogs vote, and even dead dogs vote. She would be in charge of an election between Talent and herself (a real conflict of interest, but the Dems would probably figure a way to win that argument). With her as Secretary of State and no federal election observers called in (which is why Talent won in 2002), she could take, no STEAL, his Senate seat. (BTW, federal observers were called in to the city of St. Louis in 2002 because the 2000 election had seen the closing of polls at 11 PM, voter day registration approved by Dem-appointed judges, and registered dogs appearing (and voting) on the rolls as registered voters.)

In most of the articles I've read about the NC race, he's the favorite one to win. I hope they're wrong.

If Mel Carnahan hadn't passed, John Ashcroft would have been re-elected as senator.

I sure hope this comes true. I sent Thune two $25.00 donations, not much, I know, but it helps.....Daschle has much more money than Thune.

I don't even know who's up in 2006 except Jim Talent in MO.

We can look forward to US Rep. Mark Kennedy (R) vs. Mark Dayton in Minnesota, and Katherine Harris vs. Bill Nelson in Florida. And then there's Hillary ..... and Jumpin' Jim Jeffords.

Three hundred thirty eight thousand cast their ballot in the 2002 Senate election. A three point lead equates to a ten thousand point lead. I think the polling is spot on, for two reasons. The libertarian candidate is no longer on the ballot, and he garnered 3000+ votes in the last election. The exit polling showed that out of the 13000 R's that voted for Johnson, 45% of them did so in the hopes of returning Daschle to the majority leader, thus keeping the pork coming to SD. This will not be a factor in this election. There is another reason bubbling beneath the surface, and that is both a sympathy and pride vote for Thune, who suffered a heartbreaking loss in 2002, but took it like a true South Dakotan.

Why is this a shocker?
FBI is all over SD after what happened last election, so Daschle actually has to campaign this time - he won't be able to cheat into the wee hours on Native American territories any more.
