I'm a first time poster but a long time lurker. I LOVE Free Republic. I'm just wondering if CBS is just trying to help Kerry change the focus to Bush's records instead of Kerry's. The longer the controversy continues about the memos, the longer the focus is off of Kerry. It's working! Maybe they don't care if the little people think they doctored documents as long as they accomplish their goal-protect Kerry.

I haven't seen the part where Bush gets bashed and every liberal I discuss the faked memo with wants to treat it like garlic to a vampire due to their shame.

They knew that they were on the defensive and it hurt them real bad.
This memo was a plant dsesigned to take the news OFF Kerry and on Bush.
Whoever is on the defensive gets hurt--that is the nature of today's politics.
Bush-Cheney MUST continue with finding ways to put the Kerry team on the defensive. Cheney had the Kerry camp by the throat. He should have never backed off that statement.

The clear introduction of cBS onto the dnc/kerry forgery alliance this close to major election is helpful on display.The real work is deciding what part of America we are going to give up in order for these rather-like folk to live.They clearly want a leader and gov't with a different set of principals to lead them.

Did anyone notice or pay attention -- that the White House obtained copies of the memos from CBS, after the 60 Minutes So-Called Show -- and then the White House released same, to the public. Think about it. It means that the White House examined and then knew the memos were forgeries or doctored up papers -- ie, inserts added via a word processor. Thus, White House is doing the sensible thing -- let the perps hang themselves.....
Also -- one of the officers mentioned in one of the memos, a Capt. Staub, was not in office in 1973, had already retired, so he couldn't have written or said what the memos said he did.
