Hannity just said a story will be filed later today that from sources inside CBS that the source of the documents is also the one who provided the Abu Grihab prison photos.
These may be different documents from what CBS has, but I bet there's a connexion.
I am not trying to be funny.

It seems that noone, no matter how talented, could have created these on an IBM Executive.
1. Time New Roman was not available on that machine, or any typewriter, per the font encyclopedia (Haas, I think it is).
2. Kerning.
3. Proportional line spacing.
4. The closest IBM font, Adjutant, when used to type these memos on an Executive (per a post I can't find), looks nothing like the forged CBS docs.
This approaches quibbling as you agree the docs are certainly forgeries, but I don't agree that the documents could have been created on an IBM Executive. I think you have agreed with the kerning issue, but I haven't seen you address the line spacing, the nonavailability of the font on typewriters, or the dissimilarity to Adjutant. We are completely agreed that the overlay is dispositive.
For my part, my original blanket statement that there was no proportional spacing on typewriters back in 1972 was obviously wrong, but I was still right that these are forgeries and I was right that these documents couldn't have been created on 1972 office equipment - maybe at that point I didn't know exactly why I was right. :)
I think the best explanation for the scenario is that CBS wanted to believe it so bad they did, even though they should have known better, or they just hate Bush so much they disregarded the red flags. Same w/ the DNC and the rest of the dems. That is a lot more plausible than Rube Golberg conspiracies with a triple fake shake and bake back somersault with a full twist.
Regards,
Sorry - I see now that you had posted that list of docs already.
Yah, I just got finished mining that site for a little more info - it appears that someone may have tried to "authenticate" the docs using that address. I'm looking a little further to see what's out there...
Great find!
If this Mary Mapes is the woman I'm thinking of, she's originally from Sedro-Woolley, Washington, and once worked at KOMO 4, where she was the most blatantly-biased Left-winger working there.
Personally, I'm glad she's not here anymore...
People should save these docs. They may disappear from the website, or even be subtly changed, at any time.
I searched on it too. I found a Ashland Oil box 34567 address in Houston. Also found a bunch to some place in Kenya. Kenya?? WOW, must be Kerry's girlfriend!
John
PS Just kidding about the girlfriend.
"I am not trying to be funny."
I guess I'm a little nervous about all of this, somehow, blowing up in our faces. No offense.
I agree - this many hands digging up this much info can make the tunnel collapse...
Buckhead, you know the Executive typewriter was a dodo bird from the start. Expensive. Clunky. IMPOSSIBLE to correct mistakes. Impossible to get serviced. We had one in my office, but nobody wanted to use it. I learned how to use it (one of the few to do so) but we had if for less than a year because of all the problems. I can't imagine a National Guard office springing for such a white elephant. So although the technology did exist, it was not widespread enough to be probable within that milieu.
Some more info on the wonderful Mapes located at cnn.com

In Ratherland we only need a preponderance to smear the president.
I'd definately say that someone in the Pentagon should be up for some street justice after this. Or maybe just have his hands removed for fakes.
Thats verry FUNNY! you know, Dan Rather is fond of those smarmy sayings we should start a line of these sayings as if Dan was commenting on the scandal...It would be a hoot!
Ill start,.... Dan: "Peter,(Jennings)..this scandal
is starting to stink worse than My grandfather's armpits on a 4th of July weekend"
Sorry...I mispoke by saying I had a Selectric......I worked with a IBM "Executive" with proportional (right adjusting) spacing from 62-68....and mine wasn't equpped with "superscript".
Wasn't Mary Mapes the "Journalist" who was at the pool in Iraq media hotel that foriegn journalist heard saying that She wished we would loose the War?
