"Kerry is one of the most anti-gun candidates the Democrats have ever dredged up. In particular: In addition, Kerry currently is a co-sponsor of S. 1431, which would ban all semi-automatic shotguns, all detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles and many other guns, calling the whole lot "assault weapons." http://countrystore.blogspot.com/2004_09_05_countrystore_archive.html#109455874228784568

John Kerry directly contributed to the lies of the anti war movement AND caused deaths and injuries
to US Military serving in Vietnam AND
directly caused deaths from injuries at home AND countless suicides because of his false testimony.
John Kerry is not fit to be elected dog catcher let alone President of the United States.
ANYONE who votes for Kerry AFTER knowing this data
is guilty of covering up John Kerry's war crimes!

KERRY GAVE TESTIMONY BASED UPON FALSE INFORMATION
THAT KERRY KNEW AHEAD OF TIME TO BE FALSE!
September 6, 2004 -- **BREAKING** In Yesterday's Lies: Steve Pitkin and the Winter Soldiers, Scott Swett tells the story of a former VVAW member and participant in the Winter Soldier Investigation who states that John Kerry and others pressured him to give false testimony about American atrocities in Vietnam. After more than 33 years, Pitkin is the first Winter Soldier "witness" to file a legal affadavit regarding that event...
My name is Steve Pitkin, age 20, from Baltimore. I served with the 9th Division from May of '69 until I was airvaced in July of '69. I'll testify about the beating of civilians and enemy personnel, destruction of villages, indiscriminate use of artillery, the general racism and the attitude of the American GI toward the Vietnamese. I will also talk about some of the problems of the GIs toward one another and the hassle with officers.

What do you want to bet that the Kerry campaing bought the shot gun and selected someone to present it to him.
There is a lack of logic here. Coal country should have presented him something representative of their area. The shot gun gift reeks of being staged.

In West Virginia, Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America, gave Kerry a rifle as a gift. Kerry, a self-described gun-owner and hunter, quipped: "I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me."
but I can't take it to the debate with me

In the two pictures on the LEFT, he is holding a 12 ga. semi-automatic shotgun. In the other pictures, he's holding an over/under. There is a difference. Regardless, the man is an idiot and should get out of politics and go snow-boarding in Idaho.

After fiddling with my monitor, I think you're right - it is probably an auto. I don't have a good view of the stock, but it sure doesn't look like a pistol grip.

I guess there is some vagueness as to what would constitute a pistol grip under the proposed legislation.
That guy on the left was screaming that President Bush and Vice President Cheney "dodged the draft."

let the good-ole-boys answer the gun questions (I grew up in the country).
I remember when the bill was proposed that many in the gun community realized it would BAN most semi-auto shotguns. BTW, anybody in the gun community knows what a pistol grip is, and most shotguns advertise they have them - for you non-gun types the long single barrel gun that Kerry is weilding is a semi-auto with the breech in the lock open position. The hangy-down part a few inches back from the trigger tis the pistol grip part. The remaining wood is the stock. There is a little rubber part at the back that is used to absorb the shock when shooting.
yes, the semi-auto (not the over-under) would have been banned by Kerry's bill.

From looks, the Drudge shotgun appears to be a Remington 1100 (very well could be mistaken, bad monitor), which is an automatic, and which "cocks" like a pump shotgun.
Don't know nothing about the fancy over-and-under.
I would presume "pistol grip" would normally mean something akin to what is found on a Home Defender. . . but to some (and apparently the law writers), the grip at the front is a pistol grip.

Yes, I understand. But, like a joke you have to explain in detail after you tell it, much gets lost in the translation. Drudge might have a legitimate point here, but it is buried under so much complicated detail that digging it out would be a fool's errand. There are simply too many degrees of separation between Picture A and Point B for the sheeple to keep up with, and there is built-in plausible deniability for Kerry since neither of the shotguns shown in the photos have a visible pistol grip.
One could make the same convoluted case that Kerry is a hypocrite since some gun grabbers would like to ban ALL firearms, including shotguns.
Sorry, but this one is a little too "inside baseball" for me to get behind. There are plenty of legitimate Kerry flip-flops, contradictions, and gaffes to target without requiring the target audience to be experienced gunsmiths or armorers to understand the point. Drudge is reaching on this one.

From the actual legislation:
`(42) PISTOL GRIP- The term `pistol grip' means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip.

"Even Drudge doesn't understand gun laws, the debate, what guns are, etc....This gun dowsn't have a pistol grip in the sense that it protrudes down 3-5 inches. It's a standard grip."
This is a perfect illustration of the total ignorance of most journalists concerning firearms of any kind. Drudge screwed up...big time.
