Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry traveled by bus across Ohio Friday. Kerry held a "front porch" discussion at the home a laid-off worker in Newark. Kerry spoke to about 75 people in a neighborhood of modest, one-story homes and then later held a campaign rally in the town described as a mix between blue- and white-collar workers. A Kerry spokeswoman says Newark was chosen in part because it has lost jobs, making it a good place for Kerry to tout his program for creating new ones. Kerry told people they had to be part of the solution and not get frustrated. Ohio's job losses are a key issue in the swing state. Kerry also focused on his opponent's track record, saying that President Bush didn't keep the promises he made as a candidate four years ago and pledged to do better if elected. Kerry summed up Bush's convention speech in four words: "All hat, no cattle." "This president and the Republican Party will say anything and do anything to get re-elected, anything except take care of middle-class families that are struggling in this country," Kerry said. Kerry referred to Friday's report of slower-than-expected job growth as one example of Bush's failed promises and said, "I don't think this is something to celebrate." Smarting from criticism at the Republican convention of his military record in Vietnam and his fitness to be president, Kerry lashed out at Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. "If you think America four years later is moving in the right direction, if you think your lives are better, you go vote for George Bush," Kerry told the group gathered on the front lawn of Mark and Debbie Bickle's pale yellow, ranch-style house. "But if you think we can do better, we want you to join this cause and change the direction of this country," the Democratic presidential candidate said. Polls show Kerry and President Bush virtually tied in Ohio. Bush is scheduled to arrive in Cleveland tonight.
Since we here on FR spend so much time criticizing JFK, I think we should be fair and recognize the legislation he has caued to be enacted for America during his long senate career.
They are:
Oh, well, Nevermind
From CNNMoney:
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Job growth rebounded in the United States last month and the unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly, the government reported Friday, in one of the last big employment reports before the November election.
The Labor Department said the economy created 144,000 jobs in August, the strongest reading since May and up from a revised 73,000 jobs in July. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast 150,000 new jobs.
The unemployment rate dipped to 5.4 from 5.5 percent in July, mainly due to a decline in the labor force, bringing the rate to its lowest since September 2001.
144,000 jobs are added; nearly double the previous month. Some eggheads somewhere say they expected 150,000, so it's bad news. What a dork.
If Pres. Bush is "all hat, and no cattle", then Kerrey must be "ALL BULL(sh!t), and no hat".
How can one afford to have a party while laid off?
Maybe! They would have all been in German.
Kerry is all face...... both of them....
No, it's all hat no cattle. It signifies a poser who takes on the cowboy affectations but couldn't punch a cow if he had help.
I am sure we'll see this repeated ad nauseum until more people know that John Kerry cannot count than think that Dan Quayle cannot spell potato. Quayle was using a spelling bee card provided him by the teachers in a classroom. Kerry probably came up with 5 = 6 all by himself.
Speaking of cattle, Botox isn't the only bovine product that Kerry is full of...
Well, I know FrankenKerry the Spitball has one cow that he's married to. B-P
Or, in Boston,"Kerry is all gas and no beans".
Yeah, and in an under-reported development mentioned on Fox, the numbers from previous months were revised upward bya a total of 60,000. So we now have 204,000 more jobs in the economy than we thought we did at the begiining of August, and Kerry thinks that's a sign that the tax cuts didn't work. Yeah, just keep talking, Johnny.
BTW, did you hear that crap he was putting out about Ohio having a net job loss until 2011 at the current growth rate? Not even his audience bought that crap. And once again he said the two Johns "have a plan for job growth" but I have yet to hear them explain what it is...
Kerry: All hair; no head.
John Kerry has a certain swagger about himself...In Texas, that's called arrogance.
We used to refer to those who dressed like cowboys and had never seen a ranch nor probably a cow as "Drugstore Cowboys" In other words, cowboy wannabes.
Kerry: "It's great being here in Ohio, the Buckwheat state."
Kerry can relate to this laid-off worker. Kerry hasn't worked in a day in his life.
