It is worth considering what the actual moral duty of any sincere Chechen nationalist who is not one of these monsters is, after this. I see it this way.

To avoid being stained with deeds like this, they should do more than repudiate and condemn them. They should also announce that they are forgoing their independence claims - in the interests of peace and putting a stop to this - for ten years. That after that, they reserve the right to petition for independence, though not to seek it by violence. That in the meantime, they fully support the Russian authorities, in the interest of restoring civil order and getting rid of these monsters.

That is the honest thing to do. (It would also be the honest thing to do in Kashmir, and in Israel).

When the Romans were unable to reach an accomodation with an enemy, and had found the enemy so intractable as to be incapable of keeping a peace agreement, they would, after conquering, kill every living thing in the enemy's territory: men, women, children, dogs, horses - everything.

The Romans did not do this out of savagery, but because they had determined over the course of hundreds of years that this such measures were the only effective means of causing barbarians to fear Rome enough that they would stop committing depradations on the fringes of the Empire.

We as a people are trying to help rebuild, give supplies, food and meds and much more to Iraq and the people of Muslim decent. Yet they are not coming forward when they have to know of the insurgents among themselves. People are going to mistake our kindness for stupidity! And I would have to agree to that in some ways!

Another thing that keeps being said on this link is that we must prepare for the war its coming, no it is here! While people moan and grown in the media about how we torture those in prison, these people behead torture and take children as hostages... Innocent people (workers that are trying to help them) and children with no hatreds or cares but to celebrate the first day of school.

the Islamists are starting a war with every single government on the face of the Earth. No disinformation, no CAIR, no spin-doctoring is going to save them from the wrath that is coming. Blowing up airliners, office buildings, busses, children in school, ad nauseum is going to unleash a wrath they've never dreamt about. No one, except their own, is sympathetic with them anywhere in the world. Even France may have to wake up and smell the coffee.

thank you, I am going crazy because my 5 year old is attending public school and when I go to meet the teacher night, I see this teacher wearing some scarf crap on her head. I asked around and found out that over the summer she met a man on the internet and changed her religion. Who is that persuasive? Our children cant pray out loud for fear of hurting someones feelings but she can wear that garb in our USA schools. Sorry but if our kids have dress codes, so should she. How am I supposed to know what this muslim man is up to, will it my child next in these pictures?

It's hard to feel too much sympathy for Putin. He was helping Saddam with weapons and military advisors before the second Gulf War. Saddam's oil voucher bribes probably reached more Russians than Frenchman, not too mention the fun and games at the UN.

Putin really needs to stop wasting time playing old Cold War games with regimes like Iran, Syria and North Korea (and stop playing Russian roulette with his economy by stealing domestic oil companies), and finally commit himself to the US side and help smash the Islamofascists (and their socialist armorers in North Korea). His country is way too vulnerable in the fight against Islam. Every US success simply encourages the Islamobutchers to attack Russia instead as the weak link. He may have to use nukes soon. The Russian military just doesn't have the resources to effectively smash the rebels conventionally. Just compare the two Russian campaigns to take Grozny and the US campaign to take Baghdad (or even the recent Fallujah and Najaf operations).

But for the sake of his people, he needs to make a committment.
