I don't want to be thought of as the splash of cold water on the success of the GOP Convention so far. It think it's going great and Kerry is lookinga little battered right now.
However, he is far from dead. This race is far from over. Kerry has a Rasputin-like ability to come back from the dead. We all need to realize this.
With that in mind, click on the link to yesterday's commentary on RealClearPolitics.com.
Opinions anyone?

BINGO!
The race with Bill Weld was Kerry's to lose from the beginning.
Up here, the Dems don't mind electing a Republican Governor. Ed King, Bill Weld, Mitt Romney. The reason is that the Legislature is always overwhelmingly stocked with Democrats. They know the Legislature can neuter the Repulican Governor if need be.
Now, US Senate seats are a different story.
The problem with theory of "W wins if Kerry implodes" is that we are not seeing a 50% pro-Kerry vote. We are seeing a 50% "anyone else but W" vote. The hate and vitriol that the leftist media has sustained in an unabated campaign over the past four years has taken it's toll.
You can be a good, decent human being, a great leader, yet painted by the media to be Hitler incarnate (a la George Soros, may he burn...)
The feasible side of the implosion theory is that it turns off the anti-Bush vote. They just don't vote at all. We can definitely hope for this aspect of the implosion to occur.
Still, the leftist media will invent another GW scandal. Per a previous post:
"I'm beginning to suspect the rats will simply invent a scandal of their own against Bush. Perhaps they'll determine that Bush and Osama are actually genetic twins bred from the same batch of stem cell clones by GHWB himself. Maybe they'll link Cheney with a Haliburton scandal where the company is secretly being run by a computer hooked into Hitler's brain, snatched and stowed safely away after WWII. I dunno, but it will be something with about that level of credibility."
Well, this may be more reality than fiction as far as an executable plan for the rats (heck, they be taking notes right now.)
We can't take it for granted that the undecided voters will get as charged to vote for GW as we are. We love the stuff coming out of the convention, but they're preaching to the choir in our case. We'll have to work much harder to secure a victory in November.
My liberal friend, a bit in the Ron Silver vein, agrees that the War is the paramount issue and he knows Kerry has zero credibility on it. The Dems know he is toast and this is all about holding President Bush to a narrow win that won't mean a complete wipeout in their congressional races. They will play every dirty trick and angle in their book to trim his coattails (but we already knew that anyway). But Kerry is the dead cat on the living room floor.
Balogna. The liberals in Massachusetts may buy what Kerrys selling but the south and flyover country won't be in a buying mood.
How many plastic surgeons do you figure his campaign keeps on call for all the botox injections he is obviously getting?
Why John Kerry is not Dead
For the same reason he was selected as the Dem nominee. The mainstream media wants it that way.
But the fact is that now Kerry cannot hide behind the media. He has to go out and actually answer some questions, and the polls seem clear: the more the American public sees this clown, the more they dislike him.
What that means is that instead of worrying about whether Kerry can "get back into it," the real question is whether Francois will be such a drag as to jeapordize the senate minority even further by sinking Puff, Osama Momma, and maybe the Lincoln. If he tanks too far, and everyone is sent scurrying for themselves, funny things can happen.
He (Sleazy McCauliffe) is making the rounds at the Republican Convention more than any Republican!
I, too, am sick of seeing his face and hearing his desperate lies.
You are so right, and remember: it is entirely possible that the CLINTONS took out Howlin' Howie Dean.
Being dead has never been an obstacle to a Democrat voting, I don't see why it would keep one from being elected.
I think he's won in MA because no one really knew him. To be honest, I've always concentrated more on Capt. Oldmobile and Kerry really slipped under my radar screen. I never knew he was as liberal as he is. I would bet there are alot of others up here that felt the same way. If he loses(Pray God) I really think he'll have a tough time being re-elected.
Beautiful plumage, eh?
I won't quote your comment because I don't want to give Kerry any capital by using the initials of a previous president who was rather popular and also somewhat conservative, although a member of the opposition party. His initials are a coincidence, and he bears little or no resemblance to the person for whom those initials should be reserved. You wouldn't let International Brotherhood of Machinists call themselves IBM, would you?
Well, I have to take exception with the part about that it being for the same reason. Bush has 90+% of the media seeking to sink him and sKerry has 90+% of the media covering for him.
The Bush camp has to be far more diligent and hardworking. There are any number of things out there about sKerry that most of the public will never hear about but would be headline stories that would kill Bush.
There is no way the Bush camp can for a moment put it on cruise control and not have the wheels come off. I think they are well aware of that. That's the advantage that comes from not expecting everything your way, as sKerry and the Democrats do.
who thought it was over?
I have been very hesitant to think that Bush is going to win the election. The RNC has given me new hope that bush will win. For the first time, I have a great deal of confidence in bush's ability to carry this election.
If bush loses this election to that scumbag i will really doubt the ability of the american people to pick a worthwhile leader.
But no matter what happens, at least bush has not gone down without a good fight; and the republicans in general have shown more class than that rabble of whacked out protestors in NYC ever could dream of exuding.
I hate to generalize, but most die-hard liberals have a tendency to act like scumbags.
Or, to use Frank Zappa's line, "Kerry's not dead, he just smells funny".
He and all the other RATS saw the guillotine blade coming down on their campaign last night. All that's left is for W to clean the mess up and bury Kerry's campaign away tonight.
