Price denies assaulting editor

Journalist says commissioner pushed him during argument

A newspaper editor has told police that Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price shoved him and threatened to kill him during a heated argument at City Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

No arrests were made.

The longtime county commissioner and outspoken civil rights activist denied any wrongdoing, saying it was he who was assaulted.

"This is politically motivated," Mr. Price said Wednesday afternoon. "He bumped up against me. It wasn't a big deal. All I said was he was just a jailhouse 'snitch,' with a consonant change."

Darryl Blair of the Elite News, a newspaper geared toward the black community, told police that about 12:30 p.m., he and Mr. Price were in the Dallas City Council chambers when the commissioner "pushed him shoulder to shoulder," according to a police report.

Both men continued "exchanging words" as they walked to the City Hall flag room, just off the council chambers on the sixth floor, the report states. Mr. Blair told officers Mr. Price threatened to kill him.

By the time police arrived, Mr. Price was gone. Mr. Blair filed an assault report, but no citation had been issued by Wednesday evening, said a police spokesman.

"It will be left up to the detective if a citation is warranted," said Lt. Anthony Williams, a Dallas police spokesman.

Mr. Blair said he was disheartened over Wednesday's fracas.

I hope the Cowboys football team leave Dallas. If they move to Arlington they can become America's team again. Have class and good morals again.

The cowboys are not based in Dallas, they are based in Irving. Their staduim is in one of the most desolate areas of the metroplex.

LOL! Yeah, really.

I hope this doesn't mean we have to see his name/face every week again like we used to.

Thanks for your info. They are based in Irvin, but the owner and club hang out in Dallas and they let the JERKS in Dallas set their morals. I hope they get completely out of Dalls and Dallas County.

>>Their staduim is in one of the most desolate areas of the metroplex.<<

You apparantly haven't seen much, if any, of the metroplex. The stadium is located about a mile and a half from Las Colinas, and only about a half mile or so from the "new" restraunt row in Dallas, off Loop 12 and Northwest Highway.

I will admit the IMMEDIATE (within an eighth of a mile) area surrounging the parking lot is a little desolate. Of course, that could be because it is surrounded by 3 freeways and a river.

Lone Star Park in Grand Prarie is in just as desolate area as Texas Stadium. To some extent, so is the Ballpark in Arlington, though the latter isn't surrounded by highways. That's the difference.

So your premise is that the cowboys are jerks because Dallas corrupts people into becoming jerks? Didn't it occur to you that they're jerks simply becuase they're jerks? They're adults when they arrive here so there shouldn't be much of an influence on their behavoir at that point, right?

They will. Arlington is a "yes" city. My brother lives there and said he'd be happy to have both the Rangers and Cowboys.

The Cowboys are still the number one sports franchise in the world, from a name-recognition standpoint and support standpoint.

Dallas lost the Cowboys because of one woman: Laura Miller, the mayor, now known as "Ms. No".

She's come under some heat lately for forcing the Cowboys to look elsewhere, so now she's trying to talk down the deal Arlington struck with Jerry Jones; says "Arlington is getting suckered" by Jones.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bi**h.

Price has mellowed with age.

He used to get into these kinds of scuffles every month or so when he was young and taking steroids to bulk up.

It's been quite awhile since JWP has committed his last assault. He must be off his meds. :>)

I hope the Cowboys football team leave Dallas.

The Cowboys left Dallas years ago. They moved to Irving in 1971.

Have class and good morals again.

Like when they had "Hollywood" Henderson? http://www.detnews.com/2000/sports/0003/31/20000331-28082.htm
or are you thinking more of the role model provided by Lance Rentzel http://www.wf.net/~sst97/Ringmaster.html

You are right. I remember a few years back he was out every week blocking
traffic over some BS. I can't remember now what his 'cause' was, though.

No man, I'm with you. I think the cowboys are a bunch of jerks. I couldn't care less if they packed their bags and became the Baghdad Burkas. My point is that people in Dallas aren't that bad, certainly not a corrupting influence.

Dallas' problem is its racialized city council. Mike Moses seems to have calmed down all the affirmative action pimps in DISD, but, now that he's gone, all hell may break loose again.

Whites are fleeing Dallas like rats off a sinking ship up to Frisco and McKinney and points north.

I'd wager Dallas proper will be 80% minority by 2010.
