I was listening in September 1988 on XTRA out of Tijuana, Mexico.

I first heard Rush on that same station while standing a night watch as we sailed south from San Diego in October 1988. It was just a few weeks before the Bush-Dukakis election and I felt such relief that Bush would win when I realized that there was a nationwide conservative voice on the radio.
This man, before they went into battle, asked (my staff) if they had everything they needed.
That collective thank you was a nice touch.
