Laura Bush was on CNN speaking to John King.
He asked her if she thought the convention was too negative (rolling my eyes). She said no, she didn't think that, did he? lol
King said it's not his job to answer, just ask questions. Laura repeated that she did not think it had been negative, but that the "other side" had been. (Go Laura!)
King gave her the poll numbers showing people overwhelmingly prefer her as First Lady to Teresa Heinz Kerry. Laura said she LIKED that and is flattered. She went on to say, in response to an example of Teresa's tart sayings, that it's her right to say whatever and this is politics. She said she has empathy for her as they are the only two to know what it feels like to have your husband running for president in THIS race.
It's over.
Suitable for framing!
John King saying it's not his job to "answer" whether the convention has been negative....Give me a break. Does he think we're all morons out here? Well, maybe CNN's demographics have a high proportion of morons....
This guy(Bonilla) bleeds GOP; you
might be thinking of Henry B.
Gonzalez, an old partisan Dem from
San Antonio. He is deceased now.
Bonilla's district is a large and
mostly rural area in SW Texas.
Senator Miller specifically said he was questioning his judgment (and that of the rest of the dims)and wasn't questioning anyone's patriotism. These talking heads really need to get their facts straight; Chris Matthews, for example, who says Michelle Malkin said Kerry shot himself, which she didn't, and continues to repeat it. Doesn't he read his own transcripts, for pete's sake? Don't any of them care about the accuracy of what they say and they write? By golly, do they have no standards at all. (calm yourself, bahbah). End of rant.
More:
On MSNBC Tom Brokaw interviewed Marvin and Doro Bush, siblings to President Bush.
They were both terrific, especially Marvin.
At one point Tom claimed they all had thought Jeb, not George, would someday be president. Marvin says (and he was lowkey and polite throughout) that Tom must have him confused with someone else. Then he went on to explain why it was no surprise to him to see his brother George rise to that high office.
At the end Brokaw asked them if they'd both seen Farenheit 911. They both said 'no'. Marvin said "no way" would he put money into that guy's pocket. Told Tom "no offense" but it was fueled by the media. Tom asks if he's surpised it made so much money (Tom even knew the box office number) and Marvin said no. It was playing into fears and there was a market for that.
I can't wait until Tom is interviewing a Kerry kin and asks if they've read "Unfit for Command"! (Never will we ever see such a thing)
They cannot behave so politically.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! I pray I don't miss Donnie due to the unavoidable 6:00 class!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!1
BTW, who is this Terry McAucliffe saying that the person who booked Zell Miller will be fired?? Yeah right!
hee hee. I heard them announce on the tv in the other room that GWB was doing a walk around on the stage. I got up to see, but was too late.
I had to laugh at myself for acting like a star struck kid trying to get a look at a Beatle. It's not like I don't know what he looks like. I just like looking at him. It makes me happy. Even if he's just checking out the stage. : )
It's been almost a month, but my birthday card w/GWB on the front is still up on the credenza. Like I said, I just like looking at him!
It might be more appropriate to rate Maureen Dowd on a hurricane scale, because she blows.
It was probably Geo. W. Bush. LOL
McAullif..MacAwlif...whatever...is just doing damage control. Spin spin spin! That's all he knows how to do. After all, he's a Clintonoid.
You mean, Maureen Dowd has a big butt? I didn't know that. That's very interesting. Maybe we should have a separate thread on that issue. (Just an idea.....)
Very good my2cents
Dowd is probably one of those wenches who never gets out of her chair, they get spreadasses.

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD
AUXILIARY SUPPORTS COAST GUARD SECURITY EFFORTS DURING THE REPUBLICAN
NATIONAL CONVENTION IN NEW YORK CITY
The United States Coast
Guard Auxiliary, the civilian volunteer uniformed component of the
United States Coast Guard, will be part of the contingent of
governmental agencies maintaining security at the Republican National
Convention which began today in New York City.
Scheduled to
participate in this event are well over 100 Auxiliarists who will
maintain a 24-hour presence on over 60 Coast Guard Auxiliary boats,
called facilities. These boats are all privately owned by Auxiliarists
who freely loan them to the U.S. Government for use in missions that
support the Coast Guard and Homeland Security.
While these boats
serve the Coast Guard and the U.S., the owners are reimbursed for fuel
and damage should it occur. The Auxiliarists receive meal stipends but
are required to pay for their uniforms and equipment, out of their own
funds.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary currently has
over 36,000 members with 3,900 or about 11 percent of the membership
located in the First Coast Guard District, Southern Region, which
encompasses the New York City Metropolitan area, from Southern New
Jersey to parts of Connecticut and Vermont.
According to CDR
John Felker, the region's Director of Auxiliary, and the Coast Guard
Officer who is the Auxiliary Program Manager in the First Coast Guard
District, Southern Region, "The men and women who are part of the
Auxiliary set the bar that all volunteers should seek to emulate. Their
unselfish devotion, from their donation of their most precious resource
â time, to braving all weather conditions on the water and in the air,
to assist the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security in
protecting our great country is to be commended."
In addition to
security and safety patrols around New York Harbor, Auxiliarists will be
manning Coast Guard public relations booths, assisting with Coast Guard
communications and providing a vast assortment of direct and indirect
support jobs in the New York City area.
In addition, a
contingent of Auxiliarists, who have completed the First District,
Southern Region Auxiliary Chef School, will be trading their boats for
aprons as they man the ovens, cooking for Team Coast Guard at locations
like Station New York, Military Ocean Terminal Bayonne and Station
King's Point in support of the 24-hour security operations.
Auxiliary assistance to the Coast Guard is not limited to event. The
Auxiliary will beef up their status at all the Coast Guard stations in
the region during the RNC in order to meet the unique security demands
of this event. Auxiliary facilities will provide increased Search and
Rescue platforms and crews, safety patrols, vessel safety checks and a
wide assortment of other missions that members of the Auxiliary perform
on a daily basis.
Auxiliarist Frank M. Ferraiuolo, the Auxiliary
First District (Southern Region) Staff Officer for Operations, and the
Auxiliary's liaison with the Coast Guard for this event, can't begin to
convey both his enthusiasm, about those who are participating in this
event as well as the rest of the Auxiliary.
"I think the RNC
will involve thousands of Auxiliary volunteer hours," said Ferraiuolo.
"Many people have given up their vacations and days off to help. We have
had a great response from our members in support of this mission."
"The Auxiliary is the pre-eminent volunteer organization in the
Department of Homeland Security and their response to this surge
operation is only one example of why these volunteer lifesavers hold
this honor," Felker said.
