WAY TO GO JENNA AND BARBERA!
If you read through the entire thread you can find references to several hundred kids that we know were watching.
My kids and all of their coworkers were. They all loved it.
From 134 to 142 you took care of em all way to go! I couldn't agree with you more the twins did a fine job last night and it is really nice to see a family love each other as much as the Bush family does. It doesn't seem or feel like its a show it never has with the Bushes even when he was Gov.
They wrote their own speech. I think they did a great job.
They wrote it and it was vetted by Karen Hughes and their mother.
Maybe you would feel differently about it if you read the text.
It was really pretty clever. Most of it was a little play on how college grads think they have the answer to everything only to find out that there is a chief of staff, or foreign policy expert etc that really does have all the answers.
Read the text. You might see it differently. They are practiced with delivery to be sure but it was a cheerful upbeat speech.
No, it wouldn't have changed your impression. You have it exactly right about the girls.
They were very charming and sweet just like you saw.
Do I detect a smidgin of Envy?
Just because you didn't understand the jokes didn't mean they were 'lame".
I had input from many kids their age and they loved it. I loved it too, because they were so much like my daughters.
They tease me all the time and I adore it.
LOL! I was just at the end of this thread and realized I was here posting all by myself.
I was getting a little embarassed!
The twins reminded me so much of my beautiful daughters I guess I got a little carried away!
Give the girls a break. They spoke of their Hampster and had to disclose that their Hampster didn't make it. That must have been difficult. I wonder what their Hampster's name was.
Must be a Texas thing right? We don't say don't mess with Texas (or Texas kids) for nothing!
Exactly and they're girls who act their age. Not like the "shushing" Kerry girl: "Listen to my sister, she has something gravely important to say!" Get a grip, America. The twins aren't professional speakers--they spoke from their fun-loving, giggly hearts about their parents, who can "shake it like a Polaroid picture" when they want to. Do you think anybody will ever describe John and Theresa that way?
Here's where we separate the Bush Kool Aide drinkers from the rest.
Overall, from a parent's perspective, I thought it to be a little embarrassing. But then again, I recall plenty of instances of things I have done and said at that age that, to this day, I still shake my head and wonder what people must have thought back then...
Oh well..... Jenna's still a doll-baby
What was the "Sex in the City" line? I must have missed it.
Wonderful to see real, non-scripted type emotions up there -
I agree with your view. What I saw was an unpolished presentation that was their own creation and was filled with their individual sincerity. Something like a Father's Day gift made by themselves and not a store bought item to which I think most everyone, young and old, can relate.
They are not polished actors or experienced politicians that can charm the skin off a snake and that is what made them so refreshing and human. They are 'the real thing' as is their dad, who just happens to be the President :-)
What's the analysis? They're cute, and it was refreshing.
I liked the Sex and the City line.
Yeah, when did that happen? Jenna used to be the hot one, and Barbara was the librarian. When did Barbara become such a looker?
I didn't notice the laugh. I'll have to watch it again later and look for it.
Jenna is a cutie. She must be a real handful sometimes. She is probably the one that can work daddy around to her way of thinking!
LOL
Thats it we know who we are and whose we are and don't mess with us.

I didn't expect 22 year old college grads to still be so shallow.
Their appearance was a bad decision - look at how many agree with me on this and other threads. And it's not a matter of 10% agree with me or 23% think you're right or vice versa - the twins appearance should not have caused ANY controversy.
I must have missed the parts about Barbara Bush's grandchildren talking that way to her in the books I've read. That young people think older people are old fashioned? Of course - but respect keeps them from making fun of their grandparents - parents, maybe, not grandparents.
I didn't make fun of my grandparents and my kids didn't make fun of theirs. And you know what, I didn't even have to teach my kids that - they just followed my example.
