The Bush-Oil Connection... I don't get it (Vanity)
Posted on 08/29/2004 9:20:55 PM PDT by The Unnamed Chick
I'm fighting yet again with my best friend over Bush (he hates him) and once again he's talking about Bush fighting a war based on oil.
I don't understand the connection, i don't know how to fight back, i'm lost. Please help!

Here's a link with "myths" common to the left regarding the Iraq war.

Tell him that it was about oil partly in Iraq - making sure oil wasn't in the hands of a terrorist leader (which means him using the profits to sponsor and harbor terrorists).

Thanks for the links yall, I knew there was a reason I love this place

If you have no idea what your friend is talking about that is a good answer. Just say "I have no idea what you are talking about" Chances are that he (or she) does not either. If they something like that the burden is on them to back it up with proof not for you to shoot down a theory with no basis.

Oil is propaganda.
USA has more oil than Saudi.
Check out Gull Island, Alaska.
We capped all of our main sources due to our agreement to protect the Saudi Royal Family.
Saudi was suppose to be the example in the M.E.
The radicals made that fall down.
Hence our redo of Iraq.
That will be the example, along with the bases we will set up there.

1. Bush has no oil interests.
2. Tell him to look up how many oil contracts the US has received since the war ended.

great advice. a friend of 8 years is no more. when he told me everything in Mickey Moore's movie was true it was time to flush. your friend should quit reading scribe on bathroom walls to get his daily dosage of news. good luck.

Tell him that, of course, the war was fought for oil. The middle east supplying as much of the world's oil as it does, cannot be allowed to fall under the sway of terrorists. It's that simple. He's right, sort of, but he has no idea why he's right.
Mention to him that we get very little of our oil from the middle east, but that Europe and Japan depend on that source to keep their economies running.

Also ask them who invested during the Iraq war in oil companies, not Bush but John Edwards
To: Belisaurius
He also hates war with a passion, doesn't see the point... I don't know how I'm going to talk him out of that stupid notion, but I'm trying
To: The Unnamed Chick
you may have to come to the conclusion, if you have not already, that you are just too smart for him. give him his grip and tell him to hit the bricks.

If you keep fighting, you'll lose the friend (which might not be a bad thing).
Just look at it this way if you want to keep your friend a friend...... he'll vote and you'll vote and yours will cancel out his vote for Kerry.
