Vietnam veteran-turned-military analyst Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney said Thursday that John Kerry's 1971 testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee portraying Vietnam soldiers as "monsters" would have been consider ground for treason charges in an earlier day.
"There is deep, deep anger for a man who, if he had done this during World War II, would have been tried for treason," McInerney told ABC Radio's John Batchelor.
Noting that two of his brothers also served in Vietnam, where one died, McInerney said, "He betrayed us . . . He betrayed not only my personal family but my [West Point] classmates and all the veterans that were over there."
Referring to the portion of Kerry's testimony where he accused his fellow soldiers of routinely committing barbaric acts on Vietnamese civilians, McInerney told Batchelor, "We did not do those things that he claimed that we did."
McInerney said Kerry's testimony was largely responsible for creating the negative stereotype of Vietnam veterans, noting that many of his fellow soldiers were greeted "babykillers" when they returned from the war.
On Kerry's decision to make his Vietnam service the centerpiece of his presidential campaign, McInerney said, "He picked a scab that he should not have."
I agree. I believe the vast majority of DEMs would pull the DEM party lever, if the name beside it was "to be chosen by party leadership after the election."
Yes, they are. And it is working, for the time being. But the DEM party has closer ties to its 527's, and perpetrating the "Bush is connected" meme damages media credibility.
The media won't fall over because it is caught in one big lie. It will take an accumulation. Slowly, but surely, they are setting themselves up for their deserved place of dishonor.
Payback's a be-ach.
You have fallen for the media presentation. Kerry should be proud of his service, but maybe he isn't.
Bush has not demanded or asked that the SBVfT shut up, he has condemned ALL of the 527's as using a loophole in the law, and when pressed by a DEM media, has said "Yes, that ad, and all the others." While I don't agree with CFR, Bush signed it, and put himself in a bit of a box on that one. He has to deal with that box, that he made himself by signing CFR into law, in the political arena.
Bush does not want Kerry to be president. He may or may not know what a fraud Kerry is, I don't know what is in his head. I suspect he has more pressing issues (Iraq, Iran, domestic securit, etc.), and as for the election campaign, he has every intention of beating the DEM party's opponent(s).
Without a doubt, the MSM is our staunchest enemy. They are liberal is journalist's clothing aiding and abetting the left's 527's and Kerry's campaign. Sickening.
Well I'll be dinged! McCurry, the fellow who quite lying for x42, to SPEND TIME WITH HIS FAMILY, is back in the fold trying to verbally dig kerry from the ocean's trench? I guess ole broadbeam and her mate who lives away from her, think the silver tongued mccurry can slather a little decorum and respectability onto the botox boy in order to make him "sound" presendential? Never happen! We all know he was ole broadbeam's chosen one to lose in order to secure her future run for our Whitehouse. She scares the peawaddlin' out of me.
No no no---George W Bush is doing exactly what he should in keeping OUT of the fray. There is nothing he can say that the lib media won't spin on him. If he calls John Kerry a liar, he will pay a HUGE price and in the swing states it very well may cost him the election. This way he looks like a gentleman-what neutral party (the swing voters we want to get) is going to fault a man for being positive? For saying "I am not going to call him a liar." No one. Only those loyal to the president want him to do what we all want to do- stand up in public and scream to the heavens that John Kerry is the biggest d@mn liar that ever had the gall to run for president. So who does Bush really piss off?? HIS BASE. We're all going to vote for him anyway so raising our ire is a price he can afford.
Bush is following a play that John Kerry should have- keep your mouth shut. By bringing up the subject, John Kerry opened the field for comment. Bush opening his mouth would just point the attention back to him, and he wants the attention focused on his opponent who is busy hanging himself with his own rope. (and my heavens is it a sweet thing to see.....)
The communists have been using this tactic for many, many years. We've watched it here in our country since the 1920s and as the "youngsters" of the communists have come to maturity, they continue to practise this. Those who do not know the truth, will never know it, they will believe the lying presstitutes, unless those of us who know the truth speak out. We must, we can no longer be the silent majority.
TAPS.................................................
Not his fight? These two are running for Commander in Chief!
Since when is traitorous activity, filing false reports and fake Purple Hearts not an issue when the person involved is running for Commander in Chief?
Let the press make a field day with it then hold Republicans accountable for countering the socialist press.
This letting the socialists have the whole field to themselves and being afraid of the socialist press has to stop sometime.
This isn't about winnning elections--it is about fighting for our nation. What good is an election won if the nation is lost? The war has been one-sided for years. It is about time the Republicans engage the enemy--the RATs and their establishement, the press, the schools, Hollyweird, all of them.
Stop being so afraid!
If our Commander in Chief is afraid of the press, then Bush does not deserve to be president.
When are the Republicans going to engage the enemy instead of running away? Re your "cost him an election"...
What good is an election won if principles are lost?
What good is an election won if the nation is lost?
The Republicans have stopped fighting for principles years ago. That is why Bush gave Africa $15 billion instead of using that money for national security. That is why we have $8 trillion in debt. That is why we have open borders. That is why we have the Mexican flag next to the American flag in public schools and Spanish is the language taught and used in the class room.
That is why Bush tells decorated Swift Boat vets to shut up while Bush says it is fine and dandy for thousands of anarchists to roam the streets of New York next week calling for Bush's death.
That is why we give billions to nations who call for our death through the IMF, World Bank, etc.
If you don't think principles are important, then you do not believe in the Constitution, free speech and limited government.
Every single memebr here at FR should be demanding that George Bush, through letters, calls to radio and TV stations and their Congressman, allow Kerry's anti-American activities be exposed.
Bush has made a MAJOR blunder by not allowing Kerry's traitorous activities be exposed. Any of you people who are backing Bush's call to silence free speech, and any of you who are afraid of the press might as well raise the white flag now. If you are afraid to fight for principles, then you do not deserve to call yourself a conservative.
bump TO SUPPORT THE NEW SWIFT VETS AD AND GEORGE BUSH... http://swift2.he.net/~swift2/gardner2.mpg
I think McCurry and the other Clintonistas that have recently been dispatched to the Kerry camp are there to gently ensure and preside over Kerry's demise. Hildebeast will keep her powder (if not her crusty pantsuit) dry until '08.
You are dead wrong. A few more months of Bush having "pressing issues" is not more important than a traitor and total socialist being president for the next four years.
I don't care that bush signed CFR; he should have the balls to stand up now and say "I made a major mistake. I should never have signed CFR." There are many like me who would gain greater respect for him if he did.
Trying to silence decorated Vietnam Vets for exposing Kerry is about as outrageous as it gets. Bush can;t be more wrong, and we are responsible to let everybody we can know that.
Oh please! By joining with McCain in condeming all 527s Bush has effectively boxed Kerry in. He knows Kerry will not disavow his 527s so Kerry ends up looking like a hypocrite to most independents and can't effectively criticize Bush on it anymore. It was a brilliant ploy!
Remember, the prize is being reelected, not being idealogically pure.

You are really naive.
The socialists control the press. It is impossible for "Kerry to look like a hypocrite" since the press IS the Democratic Party.
Come back to the real world. We need conservative who can think clearly.
One truth is, it wasn't just John Kerry.
Kerry was not alone at that committee hearing. Sen Fulbright, et al. knew very well what Kerry's "testimony" would be. Fulbright, et al. never approved of fighting against Communist wars of liberation. They were not looking to see what "the other side" ("anti-war" groups) was saying. The Committee under Fulbright was the other side.
Read beyond Kerry's opening statement. He was representing the "Democratic Republic" of North Vietnam and the revolutionary "government" of South Vietnam, both groups met with Kerry in Paris.
The discussion among Kerry, Fulbright, and others on the Committee make it clear that the purpose was to end the war on any terms easily acceptable by the enemy.
To make it clear IMO, not long after the Tet Offensive disaster for the enemy the Kerrys, Fulbrights, press pukes, and many other leftist Americans had so distorted the war reporting, tarnished the U.S. administrations, and maligned U.S. forces in the eyes of the public that to ask the military to continue was meaningless, irrational, and deadly. No one should go to battle when the country has already decided to surrender the war and is just waiting for the politically opportune time.
But let's today get behind the swift boat and all vets to find out how it happened that the country decided to surrender but didn't tell the troops so that the left does not make surrender an option this time!
Just my personal opinion, but I think the reason kerry was not courtmartialed was because of pressure by the demoncraps in the senate at the time. Including of course kerry's good buddy the murderer of Mary Jo Kopechne.
That may be why he will not release his military records and why he did not receive his final discharge for so long.
