XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE AUG 24, 2004 11:09:31 ET XXXXX

KERRY PHONES SWIFT BOAT FOES

**Exclsuive**

Dem presidential hopeful John Kerry personally phoned anti-Kerry swift boat vets, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Kerry reached out to Robert "Friar Tuck" Brant Cdr., USN (RET) Sunday night, just hours after former Sen. Bob Dole publicly challenged Kerry to apologize to veterans.

Brant was skipper of the #96 and # 36 boat and spent time with Kerry in Anm Thoi. Kerry and Brant slept in the same quarters, and Brant used to put Kerry back to be at night when Kerry was sleepwalking.

Brant received a call from Kerry at his home in Virginia while he was watching the Olympics on TV.

The call lasted 10 minutes, sources tell DRUDGE.

KERRY: "Why are all these swift boat guys opposed to me?"

BRANT: "You should know what you said when you came back, the impact it had on the young sailors and how it was disrespectful of our guys that were killed over there.

[Brant had two men killed in battle.]

KERRY: "When we dedicated swift boat one in '92, I said to all the swift guys that I wasn't talking about the swifties, I was talking about all the rest of the veterans."

Kerry then asked if he could meet Brant -- man to man -- face to face.

Brant declined the invite, explaining that Kerry was obviously not prepared to correct the record on exactly what happened during Vietnam and what happened when Kerry came back.

Somnabulance will get you kicked out of the Navy quicker 'n $#!+. A guy in my division was caught sleepwalking one night aboard ship. He was processed for separation later that day.

DO NOT TAKE THE CALLS. Any colluding will hurt the 527 status. Direct Kerry to the lawyers.

---I, despite my efforts to avoid it immediately upon receiving my college degree was in the Army and very quickly on my way over. I never have and never will look down on anyone that was more successful than myself in trying to avoid going.---

I was number 276, but being terminally stupid, joined the Army a year later. By the time I completed training they weren't sending fresh meat to Vietnam and I was in Korea when Saigon fell.

He is daft. The SBVFT assert that Kerry is Unfit for Command. They will not stop, until their rationale for reaching that conclusion is clear to the public

If Kerry can't co-opt the SBVFT and I agree with you, he won't, he will try to isolate them by issuing a non-apology apology and say that we must go forward from Vietnam and focus on what is best for the Amercian people now. It will be a variation of "I did not have sex with that woman ...and now I have to go back to work for the American people." Kerry will try to paint the SBVFT as people holding a grudge and living in the past. He will say it is time to move on.

I can't believe Kerry went to the Phone-A-Friend lifeline when he already knew the answer. What a waste! If he just wanted to be sure he should have just polled the audience of voters.

So in his own words he was the only swift boat vet to commit these atrocities.

He is going to use this phone call to try and "reach out" and admit he is "sorry" and he may have been "mistaken" and the willing media will tout the line

Well it does seem like the ONLY next resort.

It's not gonna work. There's something in my heart that remains pure and naive. That part of my heart tells me that the American people, hell even the lamestream media, are going to know it's all too much.

First, he lambastes the Swift Vets, sending out attack dogs such as the mayor of San Francisco-no less and expert than this- to implicate the swifties are liars.

Then he demands that book stores not stock the book and that publisher not print the book.

Then he blames the whole thing on President Bush.

His apology will be viewed by the public as being Kerry's last resort and meaningless in that he never would have made it if he weren't backed against the wall.

The behavior Kerry exhibited before his apology, assuming it happens, was too damn mean and that naive part of my heart believes that no one will ever except it.

Nor should they.

You can believe that Hill, Carville and Ickes are burning up the conferance call wires with a desperation. This implosion of fake Kerry's campaign has got to be dealt with.

That naive and pure part of my heart is open to a dim hope that the Dems might learn a lesson from all of this and quit trying to foist fake, cowardly, lying candidates on the American public. Maybe the Dems will learn that more people in American have a voice than ever in the past. These voices are going to insist on decent, no not perfect, but decent, candidates for President.

Don't believe it for a minute. Even that pure and naive part of my heart ain't that dumb. So long as Hillary breathes this will never happen.

Perchance to dream.

It's a trick! The calls are coming from inside the campaign!

Kerry is learning (the hard way) that the population of the USA is a hell of alot smarter then the population of that tiny socailist state he represents. In the USA we like and honor our veterans.

So Kerry's claiming that the atrocieties he "witnessed" firsthand and testified about were committed by US soldiers completely removed from those stationed with him.

In other words he saw none of it. One way or the other he is lying.

"There is something definitely wrong with this man."

Hmmm. Could this be it?

"Antisocial Personality Disorder is chronic, beginning in adolescence and continuing throughout adulthood. There are ten general symptoms:

not learning from experience
no sense of responsibility
inability to form meaningful relationships
inability to control impulses
lack of moral sense
chronically antisocial behavior
no change in behavior after punishment
emotional immaturity
lack of guilt
self-centeredness

People with this disorder may exhibit criminal behavior. They may not work. If they do work, they are frequently absent or may quit suddenly. They do not consider other people's wishes, welfare or rights. They can be manipulative and may lie to gain personal pleasure or profit. They may default on loans, fail to provide child support, or fail to care for their dependents adequately.

Brinkley has already re-released his book, fixing multiple errors that have come to light since it was first published.

Someone needs to keep an ORIGINAL version of Brinkley's book -- to compare it to the 2-3 page version of truths left over -- after every Kerry lie in it has been exposed.

You are welcome to it. I believe that I stole that from a "Mad Magazine" issue I read in my youth, which is fitting today.

That's interesting in itself. All this damage to the first amendment has me in a position where I don't know what is legal and what isn't.

Do you have a source by any chance?

You are absolutely correct and your post #148 is awesome, intelligent, and right on the money.

Even the short-memoried American public can remember that just 10 days ago these SwiftBoaters were being called liars and slime merchants....and today Kerry is apologizing?

Surely they can see that!?!

"Kerry will admit that his accusations of "mass atrocities" by American G.I.'s were lies and he will resign from office and remove himself from candidacy for POTUS. Nothing less will be acceptable. Period!"

If he admits to the first then resignation is the only alternative for he will have admitted tht his entire public career is built on a lie

I think what didn't apply to the swifties were the slanders from 1971. They just applied to "all the other veterans." (Please let there be a recording.)
