ARE BOOKSELLERS SUPPRESSING 'UNFIT FOR COMMAND' IN YOUR AREA?
Bookstore Employees LIE About UNFIT FOR COMMAND in Nashville; various FR posts ^ | August 19, 2004 | GretchenM

Are you having difficulty finding Unfit for Command locally, for reasons other than the publisher didn't print enough copies?

The thread linked above has numerous examples of book store employees standing in the consumer's way when they try to find this book.

Perhaps if FReepers list their experiences in one place we can see where the bottlenecks are (they seem to be scattered) and take action as appropriate to help the liberals now suppressing sales to see the error of their ways.

mystery1 wrote on the above-linked thread:

I live in San Diego and just called 2 Borders stores. I was told they don't have it in stock. When I asked why they wouldn't have a book in stock that was Number 1 on Amazon... I was told by one, that the book had errors in it and had to be sent back for corrections, and the second store told me that the book was pulled due to slander and they would get a revised book in soon.

I asked to speak to the manager in both cases and were told in both cases that they had just reprimanded the employee who told me that story.

After further conversation I was told by one of the managers that they had been getting repeat calls from someone who was saying the book was slanderous and not to sell it.

I have contacted their corporate offices and relayed my experience with their outlets, in a voice mail and asked for a return call.

I also contacted a Barnes and Noble store and was told they didn't have any and they blamed the publisher. I also spoke to the manager of that store and was told they only ordered 5 copies because they didn't expect that there would be that big demand for it.

Once I informed him that it was number on Amazon 2 weeks ago, and surely all stores would have known it was popular way in advance... he had no reply, except to refer me to the website for B&N where I could find contact info for their corporate offices.

Conservative site Human Events seem to have it, I put it into the shopping cart and it didn't say it's out of stock.

I suspect that they are sold out and that Regnery is not able to deliver.

I think we should be more concerned about sellers, like Barnes and Noble, who seem to be buying them in order to hide them under the counters.

Anyone working for kerry with a name purported to be Chad Clanton has to be suspect in some way or other.

You should send your experience to Carl Limbacher at Newsmax. I can see the headline now: "K-Mart sales force accuses Bush of genocide to stop Unfit book sales"

while it appears that many pinkos who work in these stores hate the book, that the problem is that they did not order or print or distribute enuff.

Ingram Distributors is local here and I plan to call or maybe even drive by at Interchange City.

I just checked Barnes and Noble website for this book by doing a search for the title. Says it's available in "1 - 2 weeks". However, I just went to the Borders website and did a search and all the stores in my area have it in stock. Maybe it's a Barnes and Noble policy to - ahem - conveniently understock this book, as you suggest? EVEN on their WEBSITE?

Kerry's campaign told Salon that Regnery (Unfit for Command publisher) is selling a hoax and should consider withdrawing it from bookstores. "No publisher should want to be selling books with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran," said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton. "If I were them, I'd be ducking under my desk wondering what to do." Clanton cited this as a serious problem.

Wow. Talk about chill winds. It's a good thing every book in a book store up until now was vetted by the government and deemed truthful.

They are in their 3rd print run, and I bet planning a 4th.

I read on another thread that they are on a 7th printing. 350,000 due out next week.

More incidents of "Unfit" book suppression HERE

There must be something that can be done about this. It's not right, or fair to the publisher or bookshop owners.( Unless they just don't want to make a profit.)

Buy it here:

Publisher:

Went there and apparantly they don't recognize APO addresses as being the same as stateside addresses. They defaulted my order to international(thus long mailing time and a gross amount of postage). Any other ideas?

Posted this on another thread but it deserves repeating...

A couple of years ago I noticed that Barnes & Noble and Borders were not ordering &/or hiding the conservative viewpoint books while at the same time constructing huge shrines to the latest socialist skata at the front of their stores. I complained to the managers and was basically told to take a hike. I wrote to corporate headquarters and heard nada, zip, nothing, zilch. Needless to say, I switched to only buying from a small local bookstore that gets me everything I want, remembers my name, and gives me service with a smile.

I didn't quit going to B&N and Borders however. In fact I pop in every chance I get to rearrange their stock. The fun part is in figuring out funny places to put the liberal drivel. When I can find a Limbaugh, Coulter, or Hannity book, I hide the Clinton or Moore books behind them. Libs would never think of looking there! I have hid them behind the books of Western history and Western philosophy. You can also move them behind the Christian section books or behind whatever diet books are currently not the rage. It's also fun to rearrange the CDs of certain people. Sometimes you just know that the Dixie Chicks actually belonged under Military Marching Music!

I've convinced bunches of conservative friends to do the same thing. If you go into these stores with some buddies, you can make a game of it. Whoever does the funniest or most creative shuffle, gets a free lunch! Once I was actually able to overhear an employee telling a socialist customer, "The computer says we have ten of Michael Moore's books. Are you sure there wasn't one on the shelf?" HAHA!

Maybe if people around the entire US start doing it and it starts costing B&N and Borders MILLIONS of $ to straighten out their shelves, they'll straighten up and fly RIGHT!
