EXACTLY! -- four friggin' months and (as you said) nothing else to show in 35 years....gee, I seem to remember "the good old days" (1996 Presidential Election) when one's "military service" DIDN'T matter as....well....Klintoon was running for pres at that time, DIDN'T have any "military service" and the press made NO BIG DEAL of that fact....funny how things have changed in this election:
BOTH W and Lurch have at least SOME "military service", but (of course) Lurch's "military service" is more "important" than W's as without it (or "embellishing it") Lurch would have nothing else to "run on" on this election. As they used to say on Saturday Night Live, "how conveeeeeenient!"

That sounds sort of akin to how it is up here in Canada....they go out of their way to extol their "war heroes" in WW II, but outside of that they don't mention anything at all about the good side of having to deploy their "military" outside their country to defend/protect it against foreign intruders (terrorists, etc). These Canadians are really starting to get on my nerves with their spouting the same old "we enjoy living in a 'peaceful' country" line. If they won't put their foot down and defend their liberties (that they take for granted) it won't be too much longer until their little 'ole "peaceful country" will be over-run by the equally "peaceful" (yet insidious) Muslims -- who, by the way, are gaining a stronger and stronger foothold here (little by little)....

GWB's explanation of Kerry's "nuanced" position got right to the point.

I was channel surfing and heard a reporterette mention that President Bush was speaking to the "democratic verterans of foreign wars". I don't remember which news show it was (wish I did), but I thought it strange to mention the VFW folks as democratic.
